How We Met
In the whirlwind year of 2020, Emily found herself moving back to her parents house due to the pandemic. It was during this time that she took a job at Rocky Creek and met Daniel. Amidst the turmoil and uncertainty of those days, we discovered shared passions ranging from graphic design to Saturday Night Live, sparking a quick connection.
Becoming Friends
Working together at Rocky Creek, our friendship deepened. Daniel, Emily’s boss at the time, felt there was something special there, but hesitated to make a move because of his professional roles. When Rocky Creek offered Emily a full-time position in August, she chose instead to accept a job in Asheville. Though happy for Emily, Daniel feared this marked the end of something that had barely started.
Maintaining Connection
Our friendship persisted, but over time, transitioned from regular to sporadic meet-ups. However in February 2023, Emily reached out with a phone call to catch up. Daniel finally decided to seize the moment and asked Emily out on a date. She happily accepted.
Our First Date
Our first date was set for February 3, but had to be postponed due to Emily getting sick—leaving Daniel to worry that she might be having second thoughts. However, the delay was short-lived, and we finally went out on February 10. It was worth the wait. We discussed fonts at Tupelo Honey and talked about what our relationship might look like at French Broad Chocolate Factory.
The Proposal
On November 2, 2024, nearly five years after we first met and about a year and a half into our relationship, Daniel proposed, and Emily said yes! Since we had been long distance for much of our relationship, we would often meet halfway in Saluda, NC for brunches, hikes, and picnics. Daniel proposed under a tree in Saluda where we had spent many hours dreaming about our future.
