Emily & Mitch officially met back in 2018 when Emily received a "what's up?" message from Mitch via instagram, he slid unconventionally into the DM's (direct messaging). Although this was their first time officially getting to know each-other this is not the first time they've seen one another. Emily & Mitch grew up in the same hometown of Fairfield, CT, only a few minutes down the road from one another.
However when Emily first laid eyes on her future stud of a husband it was back in 2008 high school gym class, while Mitch was crushing his opponents in badminton.
Almost a decade later, the two reconnected & began to exchange frequent messages through instagram, and soon thereafter they exchanged phone numbers. They went on their first date to a sushi restaurant in NYC financial district. (This was far before Emily realized she was allergic to rice). However they like to refer to this as date 0. Unfortunately, the two found themselves leading separate paths only to reconnect at the end of summer of 2018 at a tapas restaurant in NYC. Mitch remembers the small pitcher of sangria being $30 and they ordered 2 of them. (what a rip off!). But the insane NYC prices didn't sway the 2 loves birds from continuing enjoying each others company and going on many fun adventures in the city and NJ.
In December 2019 Mitch drove his truck into Brooklyn to move Emily out of her 400 sqft apartment and packed all her belongings into one F150 truck load. She said goodbye to her best friend Lauren after living together for many years. They moved to Somerset, NJ in a new apartment, brought home Jazz the spazz, their 7 month old kitten and shortly after COVID-19 hit. Mitch and Emily somehow did not murder each other during the lockdown and they saw that as true love.
In May 2020 their greatest blessing came home, Harley! Somehow, Emily convinced Mitch to get a puppy and together they endured the challenges that came along with raising an 8 week old puppy, and again, they somehow did not murder each other, even after many sleepless nights.
In December 2021, they made a big decision to buy a house and what do you do when you buy a house? Get a second puppy of course. Mid December, 2021 their second greatest blessing came home. Emily somehow convinced Mitch yet again to bring home another 8 week old puppy!
Emily & Mitch got engaged September, 24th 2022. Mitch and friends planned everything perfectly so that he could make his soccer game the next day, and If you know Mitch, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you. When Mitch popped the question Emily blacked out and responded with with a resounding, "yes!".
It is with immense excitement and joy that they welcome you in an epic celebration becoming the Hofferts!
