Sergio and Emily met at Cornell University as members of the Big Red Marching Band. Sergio played the saxophone and served as the 2016 BRMB Drum Major; Emily played snare drum and served as the 2015-2016 BRMB Drumline Captain. Both majoring in biological sciences and working in the Stover Research Lab, Sergio and Emily became friends while in junior year anatomy class. Serge quietly took notes while Emily ate a full breakfast every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the no-food lecture hall. Serge and Emily fell in love in Fall of 2016 and quickly realized they didn't want to do life without each other. After graduating Cornell in May 2017, they spent one year long distance before moving in together in Oklahoma City for Emily to start med school at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Much to Serge's surprise, Serge and Emily adopted two cats (Tank and Bucky Barnes) within a year or so of living together. Serge proposed in July 2020 and then started med school at OU in August 2020. The couple is looking forward to navigating life as cat parents, life partners, and a dual-physician family.
