Our Story

Picture of Our Story
The story of Emily and Wesley begins not with mutual attraction, but with mutual friends. In the early part of summer 2020 Wesley, Garret (now a Groomsmen), and Natalie (Emily’s little sister and now Maid of Honor) were spending a fair amount of time together. Very soon Natalie started bringing Emily along on their adventures as well. In this time Wesley couldn’t help but notice Emily’s beautiful smile and blue eyes. He soon took an interest that was, sadly, unreciprocated. It wasn’t that Emily didn’t appreciate Wesley’s good looks or gentlemanly demeanor, but he was part of her little sister’s friend group and therefore off her radar. Even as Wesley and Natalie persistently attempted to convey his interest, Emily stayed oblivious. But slow and steady wins the race, so the saying goes, and Wesley knew about racing. They were naturally thrown together throughout the summer, and Wesley remained very patient as their acquaintance blossomed into friendship. When Wesley had to return to college, he remained present in Emily’s life through texts and the occasional weekend visits where they would attend church together. Emily soon realized that the more they were apart, the more she missed him. Wesley believes it was his irresistible charm that won her over, which is mostly true, but God is the greatest matchmaker. On October 25th, 2020 they officially started dating and their relationship quickly strengthened and grew serious. They came to realize that when Wesley finished college, marriage was their destination. Three years later, as his graduation date grew near, Emily nervously anticipated the hoped-for surprise. Both were rewarded for their patience when she excitedly accepted his proposal on December 23, 2023, just two days before Christmas. They have both been anxiously awaiting today, and now are very excited to have all of their family and friends here to celebrate along with them.
