Katerina Gerlach - Maid of Honor
Emily and I met 23 years ago when she was just one year old. Since then, we’ve been attached at the hip - absolutely inseparable. Through the highs and lows of growing up together, the adventures and joys of sisterhood (and of course the bullying and fighting), we’ve been best friends for as long as I can remember (literally). Though I’m a little jealous that my “best friend” status will get bumped, I can’t think of a better person that I would want to take that title than Ryan. Since I met him, I knew the two of them were perfect for each other and I’m beyond excited for them to start this new life together.

I’ve known Emily my whole life since she’s my older sister, but I’ve never seen her as happy as she is when she’s around Ryan! I’m so happy she found someone that brings out the best in her. I haven’t known Ryan for long, but as soon as I met him, I knew that he was the one for Emily. He fit right in with our family and now I can’t even imagine a time when he wasn't around. I’m so happy Emily and Ryan found each other and that we will all get to watch them goof around for the rest of their lives!

I met Emily freshman year at Froelich's, the local college hangout. We mutually believed each other to have RBF, but despite that we instantly clicked. We were the best of companions; from being good gym buddies, to not so studious Leo coffeehouse dates, country crawl drinking buddies, camping trips at Jeffy Lake, bonfires in the freezing snow, Halloween costume exchanges, karaoke nights, DC trips for the March for Life, dance parties, and eventually roommates. I can’t imagine college without her friendship, and I look forward to growing with her forever. I’m so excited for her and Ryan to have the most beautiful babies together. I love you, may God bless your marriage!

I met Emily on an impromptu night out in Pittsburgh, and from there we quickly became friends. We lived together for two and a half years through university, played on the soccer team together, and were part of the same household. We’ve shared everything from early morning practices to late-night laughs. I’ve had the privilege of seeing her grow through all of those seasons of life, and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this next chapter with her!

Emily and I met at Franciscan University when I joined Regina Angelorum. She interviewed me before I joined and we became “Big” and “Little” in household. During my interview I told her she did a good job in her soccer game the day before and she then complained about the refs for I think the rest of the interview. I was blessed to be able to visit her in Alaska earlier this year and I was her first friend to meet Ryan (I approved)! I’m so excited to see what life has in store for them!

I met Emily my Sophomore year of high school when she moved to Michigan from North Dakota. We quickly became friends thanks to many retreats, some road trips, our love of soccer, and mutual weirdness. Emily is someone who I know I can be myself around. We may not have lived in the same state since after high school but whether it’s seeing her in person or FaceTiming it always feels as though not a day has passed. I’m so excited to celebrate Emily and Ryan as they begin this new chapter together!

Ryan and I met at the Coast Guard Academy during swab summer and formed an instant connection. We did everything together from playing hockey to going to the gym to spring break trips. We've been there for each other in the good times and during the hard times, bad luck, and all that in between. We've helped each other grow up from the 17 year old kids that showed up to school to the 26 year old bigger kids we are now. I can't think of a better way to describe what we have then what Ryan said post shoulder surgery while still high on morphine. He looked at me with glazed over eyes and a big cheesy grin and said “we're more than shipmates" before passing out in my bed. Still a little hard to believe Emily is stealing my shipmate but I can't think of a better person to do it! Emily really brings out the best in him and I've seen him grow exponentially since they met. I'm super excited for them and can't wait to see them take this next step!

Ryan and I first met when I was born, pretty sure I didn’t have a choice. As his brother, I’ve been obligated to put up with him since. Emily, wishing you the best with him, haha! But congratulations to you both. Can’t wait to celebrate!

I haven’t known Ryan for a long time, but the time I have spent with him I’m sure has been nothing short of thrilling for him. As someone who grew up with only sisters it’s been nice to have a brother around and someone who I can treat like a brother. I am honored that he asked me to be a groomsman and I can’t wait to walk him down the aisle.

Ryan and I met at the Academy, where him, Josh, and I quickly became good friends. It was a tough 4 years, but we were able to help Josh learn to read, so something good came out of it. Ryan is a great travel buddy, and we have been to 7 states and 3 countries together. He is such a good friend that he helped arrange a surprise date with my now wife!

Ryan and I have been friends since Swab Summer at the Coast Guard Academy. We played ice hockey together and were roommates twice. Over the years, we've spent time together at early morning practices, dinners at the ‘hockey’ table, and late-night Xbox sessions with the boys.

I met Ryan at the Coast Guard Academy and we were roommates during COVID. He was always jealous of me being a management major because I had all the free time in the world. Some of my fondest memories of our dark days at CGA was playing NHL on Xbox with all of our friends. Ryan has been a great friend and one of my ride or die homies ever since CGA, and I’m happy he is finally coming to the Gulf Coast.
