Our Wedding

Kyle and Emily first crossed paths in 2013 through their love for soccer. It wasn’t until the summer after Emily’s first year of college they reconnected online. Kyle was wondering how Emily liked college and if she was still involved in soccer. Emily was very focused on her nursing path and had left her soccer days behind. After some catching up, Kyle left a lasting impression trying to convince her that both he and Mark Wahlberg had a cunning resemblance these days. Through many changes of the seasons, Kyle and Emily remained in each others lives. Throw in nursing school, soccer schedules, night shifts, graduation, job changes, and even relationships, yet nothing seemed to keep these two from finding themselves back together. In 2019, Emily made her life in Maine permanent by buying her first home. As they had done for many years, the long distance relationship persisted, yet was running its course. By the end of that year, Kyle made the decision to join Emily in Maine. The plan was early 2020 to move his life there with her, which she was anxiously awaiting. Cue Covid-19.  At the cusp of lockdown, Emily, Kyle and Kodiak loaded a U-Haul and settled into their new life together. COVID presented its own set of challenges to getting Kyle into a new routine, but he kept himself busy taking on another college degree program to add to his resume. Emily and Kodiak both enjoyed having him around all the time. They enjoyed lots of golf, home cooked meals and time together that first few months. Kodiak, the best boy, crossed the rainbow bridge in August 2020 leaving a real hole in their hearts and home. Emily’s sister Jillian luckily added a furry new member of the family, Wells, days before Kodiak’s passing. Wells has been a joyous addition to their lives and keeps all of Kodiak’s toys well loved.  Both Wells and Kyle both were true support companions for both Emily and Jillian as they navigated a scary new reality in the nursing field. Pandemic life brought lots of opportunities to golf, bake and spend time learning to live with each other day to day. I dont think there has ever been a better test of compatibility than quarantine! Well, they survived. And in May 2022, once they finally saw a lift in the chaos of COVID, Kyle and Emily took an impromptu weekend trip to Booth Bay. They spent a very hot day walking the trails of the botanical gardens and exploring local shops and breweries. In a brief stop at their bed and breakfast to freshen up, Kyle was trying to sneak in a very scenic hug and kiss in front of the ocean facing windows.  Emily was trying to make haste for their next stop of the day, so after a quick peck, Emily was shocked to see Kyle drop down on a knee.  A very, very tearful “Yes” sealed the deal! And from there, the rest is history.  The couple can’t wait to make more memories with you on their special day!

Jillian, sister of the bride, will be standing beside Emily on her wedding day, as she has throughout their entire lives.  Jillian lives and works as a nurse in Maine.  She is a loving and dedicated dog mom to Wells.  Emily, Jillian, Wells and sometimes "the Kyles" enjoy spending time together exploring the Portland food scene, watching movies, cooking, and of course.... playing chuck-it.  As the "girly" one of the Golds, Jillian has been an invaluable player in making this wedding as beautiful as it can be!

For our out of town guests: We have elected not to secure a room block for this event. For most, the best option we would recommend is looking into Air B&amp;B. St. Albans bay does have a number of summer camps available and are close by our venue. There are many beautiful hotels in burlington for those looking to explore the area over the weekend. However, those would be about a 30 minute drive from the venue. As we will not be having a traditional wedding party, we are asking our guests to abide by a general color scheme. Please try to coordinate your formal attire to the color palette below. Sage green, gold, tan, black, and white (excluding white dresses) are all acceptable!
