Shaun and Emily met in their freshman year of high school in gym class. Though their start may not have been romantic, their relationship would bloom into a lifelong partnership. From their junior and senior prom to their graduation day, they always knew they were meant for each other.

While Emily and Shaun pursued different interests at different colleges, their love grew stronger. Shaun attended Georgia Tech to study physics, and Emily attended Berry College for chemistry. With an hour and a half drive in between them, they only were able to see each other on the weekends, but always managed to find a way to close the distance. Eventually Shaun graduated in 2021 and decided to pursue a PhD. Emily was finishing her senior year, when the couple truly had to become long distance, when Shaun moved to Maryland for graduate school. Nevertheless, the two continued to make their relationship work.

Emily eventually graduated and moved to Maryland to live with Shaun. To her surprise a few months later, Shaun proposed while they were on a trip to Canada. They are so excited to celebrate their union in marriage in November 2024.
