In the middle of June in 2020 it all started with one word “impressive”. Emily and Tom met believe it or not on a dating website called Hinge. Who would have ever thought? She posted a picture of a bull elk that she shot in Wyoming and asked for one word to describe that pic. Tom then replied “impressive”. Tom will tell you Emily then read his reply to her elk picture and saw his profile in the dating website and instantly fell head over heels in love with him. Although most probably know better than that. He will also tell you that they met on Farmersonly.com and not Hinge. Once the ice was broken and the conversations began the two went on their first dinner date on June 20, 2020. The next day after their dinner date Emily said to Tom “I had a really good time hanging out with you, felt like I've known you for more than a few days :)” — Tom couldn’t have agreed more.
There was an amazing connection with great compatibility between them from the very beginning!! Something truly special!! With their love for God, the outdoors, traveling, nature, hunting, sports and many other things they have truly grown into becoming best friends and an inseperable pair!! I know Tom would tell you he would be lost without her in his life.
He knew he was pretty serious about her very early on and even made a commitment to her by buying her a pair of cowboy boots 2 weeks into the relationship. To show he was really serious about her, he invited her father on a fishing trip to Ohio, only 3 months after they met. He was sure to let him know how much he thought of Emily on that trip. Emily’s father also really seemed to like Tom as well, he never once called him by the wrong name. That’s because they have the same name.
After Emily and Tom dated for several years, Tom and Emily’s dad made a 2 day trip to Benezette, Pa to hunt for elk sheds and that is where Tom asked for the approval to have Emily’s hand in marriage from her father. With his blessing Tom felt as if he was one of the luckiest guys in the world. A few months later on June 1, 2024 at the Crush Cancer 5K held annually in memory of her mother, Jill, Tom dropped on one knee. In front of most of all of her friends and family Tom was, believe it or not, at a loss for words and barely able to pop the question as he was fighting off tears like he never had before.
On June 21, 2025, which conveniently happens to be Emily’s parents anniversary, Emily and Tom will solidify their love for one another and unite themselves in the word of God in front of their friends and family and hope their special day is “impressive”!
