If you are looking for something to do over the weekend, Moab has all the recreation you could ask for and then some. We've included some of our favorites below but please reach out if you would like any advice or a personally curated Moab experience!
Arches National Park: for the 'Gram. Plenty of hiking, arch-seeing, people-watching, and photography opportunities (go see the arch from the license plate!). If you have a full day, we can't recommend exploring the Fiery Furnace section enough. Please note park entrance reservations are required, and extra permits are required for the Fiery Furnace. Reservations to enter the park for any date in October open on July 1. If you don't get a permit that day - don't worry! We've gotten "night before" permits many times and can help y'all out with advice if you want to go that route.
Canyonlands National Park: Emily's personal favorite and a great place for spectacular photos and hikes without the reservation requirements of Arches. We recommend the Island in the Sky entrance because it's the closest to town and has a great Visitor Center. Sunrise from the bottom of Lathrop Canyon pictured above.
Mountain Biking: You truly cannot go wrong with a Moab bike ride. Chile Pepper Bikes in town is the go-to for rentals.
Slickrock Trail: Iconic mountain biking locale and one of Logan's favorites. Mostly for experienced riders.
Moab Brand Trail System: A great place for newer riders to cut their teeth in the desert.
Rustlers Trail in Fruita: If you are coming from Colorado and brining your bike, this is a can't miss trail on the way. This trail has a little bit of everything - flowy, climbs, slickrock - and is one of Emily's favorites. For beginner/intermediate riders.
4-Wheeling: One of the activities Moab is famous for!
Fins n' Things: A good trail for Jeeps, buggies, or dirt bikes to rip it up over some big rock features. Experience recommended.
Tower Arch: A super fun trail in Arches NP and one of Logan's dad's favorites. Only Jeeps are allowed here, no OHVs.
Gemini Bridges: An easier trail that leads to a very unique rock formation (spoiler alert, it's two bridges.)
Hiking: For a hike nearby, try Corona Arch. This is a shorter hike to get to one of the most famous arches in town.
Rafting: There are a lot of tour companies offering local day trips on the Colorado River. Moab Adventure Co. is our go-to outfitter.
Rock Climbing: So many choices, but we don't climb, so call Jackson for the tea.
Food: If you are travelling to or from Colorado make sure you stop in at Jilbertitos in Glenwood Springs for burritos and Hot Tomato in Fruita for some truly great pizza. In Moab, Milt's Stop and Eat is the go-to drive in for Logan and Emily to fuel up after adventuring with milkshakes and hamburgers. Jilibertos (different from Jilbertitos) is the premier breakfast stop for burritos and Moab Garage Co is the spot for hip coffee shop vibes.
Shopping: Moab Made is a wonderful art collective on Main St and worth a stop . There's also a good chance you'll catch Logan in Back of Beyond Books at some point.
Papa Joe's Alien Gas Station in Crescent Junction: Just go, trust us! It's weird, and yes, the coffee is actually free.
