Jake and I met our junior year of high school, waiting for the bus stop. We instantly bonded over our love for rock and roll and the great outdoors. Eventually we started dating. We attended separate colleges, but continued dating. Since then, we have weathered life events of all kinds. From success and celebration to hardship, loss, and illness we have always stuck together and relied on eachother for strength. In 2020 we took a special trip to Copper Falls State Park. We had planned to go to Acadia National Park, but the pandemic decided otherwise for us. Copper Falls ended up being the perfect spot, however. The waterfalls were absolutely stunning, and Jake had a little surprise in store as well! One particularly clear night of the trip, Jake invited me on a walk to a nearby clearing to look at the stars. We walked out and found ourselves surrounded by stars and a gorgeous night sky. It was there that Jake asked me to marry him! I was not particularly surprised, but I was thrilled and of course instantly said yes! He put the ring on my finger, but it was so dark that I had to pull out my flashlight to see what the ring looked like! It was the most special moment! The engagement ring is a gorgeous family heirloom from Jake's maternal grandmother. It is absolutely perfect, and the gold detailing resembles leaves, reminding me of both of our love for the natural world. Wedding planning was initially put on hold for a while, due to the pandemic and just life in general. We were never in a huge hurry, and especially since we have been together for so long, we knew we could wait for the perfect moment. Well, that moment has arrived!
