Our Story

Weirdo's forever

Picture of Weirdo's forever

Our story starts at Rhema Bible Training College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Neither of us were looking for a relationship. We went to gain a deeper knowledge and a relationship with God but His plans are greater and higher than ours.

On the 2nd day of the 1st year at RBTC, I first met Josh. We were assigned seats next to each other in our 2nd hour class. It so happened to be that every time we had that class that term, he somehow didn’t have a pen for the sign in sheet, so he always had to ask me for one. (Josh here - The first few times, I actually didn't have anything because I was using my iPad for notes, but I realized after the first few times that I could use this as an excuse to talk to Emily... seems to have worked out well.) Now I wasn’t really interested in Josh at first. However, as time went on and I got to know him more, I found out how nerdy, funny, kind, sarcastic and honest he was. I didn’t realize it then, but the exchanging of pens was just the beginning.

A couple weeks go by, he had asked me to go bowling with him. I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to say yes and that one yes changed my life forever. We spent nearly that entire day together and even though he said it wasn’t a date (even though it clearly was). It took me about 4 months to be comfortable with the idea of being his girlfriend and I am so grateful and thankful that I did. As the weeks turned into months and the months turned into years, our relationship grew from me not being comfortable with taking pictures with Josh, to overloading his phone with silly pictures of me.

We officially started dating on February 2nd, 2019, and it has been an amazing journey. He finally asked the big question on July 4th, 2022. He coordinated with my close friends and family to do the proposal at a beautiful park that I loved. Beforehand, he took me bowling, then to sonic for some ice cream and then we spent some time talking for a bit (Josh here - that was really just to stall so that the friends and family could make it to the park). We had got to the park and I had a strong feeling that it was going to happen. So, I was nervous and we walked around for a while. We started walking down to the rose garden which had a couple of levels to it. On the third level of the rose garden, we stopped at the top of the stairs to the bottom level. Josh grabbed something from his backpack and took my hands. He said something to the lines of "I have loved our adventures together and I want to spend many more adventures together with you." Then he kneeled to the ground and then finally proposed to me. OF COURSE I SAID YES!!!!

So, to the next chapter in our journey, we are so excited! We hope to see you all there.
