Q + A

Do I need to be Jewish to observe the wedding ceremony?

A Jewish wedding is an opportunity for a community to lift up a couple in love and celebration. While we will have some traditional elements to a Jewish wedding, including the chuppah and breaking of the glass, we will make the experience welcoming to all our family and friends. We will have head coverings (kippot) available, as well as programs to help you understand what is happening. Otherwise, sit back, relax, and celebrate our joy together!

What is the dress code?

Our wedding will have a festival, garden party theme, so we want see you in your brightest sundress, niftiest bow tie, and most dapper summer suits. Keep in mind - we’re getting married in May in Virginia, so it could be chilly, humid, pouring, or delightfully sunny. The venue has outdoor areas, so wear grass-appropriate shoes.

Are children allowed at the wedding and reception?

We love kids, and while we have honorary flower girls, we would ask all children not in the bridal party stay at home. If you need suggestions for child care, please reach out to us by April 2024. We realize it is Mother’s Day, but we hope having a few hours of celebrating without parental duties will allow you to enjoy the wedding and relax!

Which airport is easiest to fly into?

For our out-of-town guests, there are two airports in the region. The Richmond International Airport is about 30 minutes from the Hilton Garden Inn at Innsbrook where guests will be staying. If you prefer to stay in Charlottesville, the Charlottesville airport is about 20 minutes from the downtown mall.

Where are guests staying?

Our out-of-town guests can make reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn at Innsbrook. The room block is currently for Friday May 10 with check-out Monday, May 13. Please visit the Travel page for the room block link. Any guests wishing to stay in Charlottesville should be advised to monitor year-end activities at UVA. Commencement begins May 17, 2024, but parents could be helping with moving out, Mother’s Day weekend, and more.

Should I rent a car?

As of now, we are not providing group transportation to the venue. If you are joining us for a weekend of activities, please plan to have a vehicle to get around town. If you are local and wish to share a ride with out-of-town guests, please let us know.
