Peter and Emily met up at a barcade in Williamsburg, aptly named Barcade. It was June 28, 2019, and the two had recently started talking after matching on Bumble. (The first conversation was something about media and cats.) Emily told her sister and college best friend that she was meeting 'Bumble' guy for a couple drinks.
They grabbed a booth toward the front, which is no longer there, and a couple of beers, even though Peter doesn't really like beer. Both journalists, Peter looked at Emily and said: "Interview me." From then on, they spent hours in that booth and playing nearly every game in the place. Peter then took Emily to his favorite hole-in-the-wall burger joint, where they shared a basket of tater tots.
The week after, on fourth of July, they met up again. And then again, and again, every weekend after, for the foreseeable future.
Over the next few years, they built a life together, first in Brooklyn, then in Queens. Peter's three cats and honorary groomsmen - Thurston, Hunter, and Tweed - became theirs. Emily spent many weekends in Greenwich and New Jersey with Peter's family, while Peter took trips back to Emily's hometown outside of St. Louis and learned all about the sacred artform of toasted ravioli, ranch dressing, and provel cheese.
On a brutally hot Sunday in August, Peter and Emily met up separately on the Coney Island mini golf course, where they had one of their first dates four years before. Peter, who had accidentally sent Emily a photo of the ring they had designed with the help of his jeweler uncle, got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
Peter and Emily are extremely excited to become husband and wife and host all of their friends and family in one place. They are honored to have you all celebrate with them, and they can't wait to write the rest of their story.
