Our Story ( written by the groom)
I met Emily in our Anatomy lab in January of 2021. At the time, we were only allowed to have two people per table. I sat in the very back of the classroom and two other people came and sat at my table. Figuring I would have to move anyway, I went and sat at the front of the room with a girl sitting by herself. I thought she was weird because she kept talking to herself. As it turns, out she thought I had a bad attitude. We also somehow ended up sitting next to each other during the lecture portion of the course, too.
At the time, we were dating other people and there was no interest from either party. Eventually, those relationships ended and we were just two single lab partners who dissected pigs and did lab assignments together in class. We would text during class and we studied together in the library once or twice. One of those times, she told me that she was going on a 3-week trip out to Colorado after school ended. My interest was piqued because I love travel and the mountain landscape. I told her I wanted her to send me pictures from her trip. Well, she did.
We texted and talked every day while she was gone. I think that’s when we realized how cool and awesome we both are. We had chances to share thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that helped bring us closer.
When she got back, we met back up in Milledgeville and went on our first date to Sonic (fancy, I know). I went to her hometown of Dacula a few times to see her over that summer as well.
We came back to school and officially started dating on August 19th and I was the first to say “I love you” on September 11th after a Georgia football game. We spent every day together during the next school year until I moved away. We did long distance for the next school year until she graduated from nursing school.
Since she got a position at Emory University Hospital and moved to Atlanta, we are back to seeing each other almost every day. I proposed on November 24th, 2023 at Little Mulberry Park in Dacula.
It was supposed to be on a hike in the mountains with a beautiful view in the background but we had some complications before leaving. Through it all, I feel like I won the lottery by finding such an amazing and Godly woman. We compliment each other well and we make an amazing team. To my future wife, my best friend, and my forever lab partner, I love you and can’t wait to marry you!
