Where should we stay?
The wedding is in Emily and Jason’s neighborhood in South Park, Seattle. It’s about 15 min south of downtown Seattle and 10 min north of the Seattle-Tacoma airport. We recommend looking for Airbnbs in the area if you want to be close. Other options are the Georgetown Inn (not fancy but less than 10 min away), hotels in Tukwila including the Embassy Suites, Residence Inn, and half a dozen other options (15 min drive) or airport hotels (10-15 min drive). Downtown Seattle including the Embassy suites at the Stadiums, The W, or boutique hotels like The Thompson are also options though likely a bit pricier (15-20 min without traffic).
What time does the wedding start?
Cocktail hour starts at 4pm at 836 S Kenyon St, Seattle. The ceremony will start around 5pm.
Where can I park?
Our area of South Park has a lot of street parking, so you should be able to find a spot within easy walk of the venue. If you’re really planning to light it up, please be responsible and grab a Lyft instead!
How late will the party go?
We have the venue all night and no nearby houses — so we expect the dancing and music to go late! Feel free to leave whenever is best for you :).
How should I dress?
Feel free to dress to impress but this is NOT a black tie event. The ceremony will be on grass and the reception outdoor space is gravel, so plan your footwear accordingly!
What will the weather be like in Seattle?
Early September is usually still the tail end of summer in Seattle. We expect it will be warm (70s) during the day and cool off (60s) into the night. The rain usually hasn’t started yet either, though of course you can never predict 100%. Be prepared with a light layer as the evening goes on, and you should be OK.
I hear you have a special musical guest…tell us more.
It’s true! Along with our great 9 piece cover band, we’ll have a special musical guest. If you’ve been following the indie music scene, you might have heard his music or many of the bands he’s played with over the years. We’ll leave it there and let the anticipation build.
You didn’t ask me what I want to eat. Will you feed us?
Yes! We plan to have 2 local food trucks on site for the wedding. They should be able to accommodate most eating preferences but if you have special restrictions, please let us know so we have you covered.
Is there an open bar?
Of course! We will have local beer on tap, various wines, liquor and (hopefully) a killer bartender with signature cocktails. Again, remember the part about being responsible and not driving if you are plan to take full advantage.
Where does “Reidsters” come from?
We expect only Emily’s family and friends might have this question :). Jason’s long time nickname is “Reidster” and a few of our friends have started to call us collectively “The Reidsters”. We decided to lean in when we realized the website domain was available!
Can I bring my kids?
There will be some children at the wedding including Jason’s niece and nephew. You are welcome to bring yours too but please RSVP and keep in mind the reception isn’t necessarily geared toward little kiddos. Knowing our friends, it might get a little rowdy :).
Can I bring my pets?
Our cats, Troi, Nonna, and Smokey, might make a brief cameo. The venue is dog friendly so a few pups might show up. Just keep in mind the live music and lights and lots of people. If that’s going to be scary, it might not be the right place.
Where is your registry?
Check out our registry page! We’re old enough that we have most of the home items we need…but we’d love your support for our honeymoon or home projects depending on what inspires you.
