Emily and Joel share a love that is much different than most people. It all began with a trip to Winston-Salem for Emily's best friend who was visiting… a simple swipe right created a conversation that started the continuing journey. Music, is what really bonded the two. Emily and Joel's first date was spent at Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band in Asheville, NC, where Emily was attending UNC Asheville studying political science. The two spent countless nights experiencing unforgettable music, bonding with beautiful people, and growing together. It wasn't long before Joel was taking trips to Asheville just to bring a smile to Emily's face. Joel wrapped up his degree in civil engineering at NC A&T in May 2014— and wished for Emily to join him in the next chapter of life. As time passed and their relationship continued to bloom, Emily packed her bags and headed to Greensboro, NC, where she just recently completed her degree in political science at UNCG.

In November of 2015, Joel popped the question in a beautiful way— on day 762 of being together, knowing that Emily's grandma was asked the same question years ago on Thanksgiving, Joel planned the question. Nervous Emily, had noticed the weird vibes and prepared by getting her nails done and trying to stay calm— Little did she know, later that evening, surrounded by both her family and Joel's… Joel got down on one knee and asked her for her forever.

Needless to say, the love that has grown between these two is something crazy. Whether it be the Bassnectar lights and music that shows their love in sharing memories and moments, or the way Joel helps take care of Emily when she's sick or hurt… These love birds have fallen into a deep, exciting journey of doing life together! And here comes the bride, in June of 2017.
