Teddy and Emily met on a blind date at the Castro’s house on Thanksgiving Day of 2018. The Castro and Cannon family had been planning for the two to meet for months, completely convinced they were a perfect match with their incredible dancing skills, adventurous lifestyles and steadfast love for Jesus. Although Teddy and Emily saw the distance from NoVA to Lynchburg as somewhat of a deal breaker, their best friends thought otherwise and had faith the set up would be worth it for the two of them. After an awkward Thanksgiving, the two decided to give it a few more tries trusting their friends’ judgment. A couple dates later and after an amazing New Year’s celebration, they were all in, building their foundation together and excited for what the future held.

THE MEETING

On a pleasant, nothing-special sort of ordinary day, after spending the day hiking together and watching Teddy’s family go skydiving, Teddy and Emily headed home for a dinner with Teddy’s family. On the way home however, Emily spotted a sunflower and said that they HAD to stop to check it out. Teddy nonchalantly obliged. After some frolicking through sunflowers, Teddy and Emily stumbled upon a picnic blanket set up with a basket, charcuterie (Emily's favorite), La Croix, and a guitar. Thinking this was meant for someone else, Emily commented, “someone ‘bout to propose!” Teddy nervously agreed and sat down on the blanket ready to start the real date. However, Emily insisted that they needed to leave before they ruined that person’s proposal. Teddy had no clue how to react; the ploy to trick her into thinking this was her idea worked a little too well&hellip; Feeling a bit embarrassed and annoyed, Emily kept pressing for them to get up and leave. After she began walking away, Teddy yelled for her to come back, explaining this was meant for them. Emily reluctantly sat down next to Teddy, still not fully believing that he had planned this all along. Following some awkward eating, both still in shock (Emily, that this was for her; Teddy, that she still had no clue), and at the golden hour of sunset,&nbsp;Teddy began playing "In your Hands" by Bebo Norman. He missed a few guitar notes and, near the end, couldn’t play the chorus so he just sang it acapella. Not wanting to wait much longer, Teddy retrieved his handwritten poem, expressing his love for Emily for the first time in their relationship, then&nbsp;got down on one knee with the ring in a sunflower asking Emily to be his wife. Emily happily said yes to marrying&nbsp;the love of her life.

Hannah is like a sister to the bride. She and Emily met at housechurch in undergrad. After college, they became roommates in the cutest apartment in downtown Lynchburg. Being in close quarters with someone for so long, you get real close to each other; Emily and Hannah had the privilege of seeing each other at their best and definitely worst but they constantly chose to challenge each other spiritually and make memories out of the mundane. Hannah has been such an intentional and encouraging friend and her family has become like a second family to Emily. At the infamous thanksgiving dinner in 2018 is when Hannah and her family introduced Emily and Teddy, of which they are forever thankful for. Hannah is married to Chase Sexton and they have a beautiful baby girl, Ruby Joy. Emily is beyond grateful to have someone like Hannah in her life and can't wait to be family with Hannah forever!

Lindsay Martin

Bridesmaid

Lindsay is the bride's baby sister. They've been through everything together; from taking ballet together&nbsp;as tots to moving over 5 times&nbsp;around the East Coast in grade school to now getting married in the same year!! The sisters have been distant in miles but they can always reconnect quickly through mariokart, minecraft or family gatherings (through Lindsay's good cooking).&nbsp;Although Lindsay got the cooking gene of the family, Emily is determined to learn all she can from her.&nbsp;Lindsay&nbsp;is currently a&nbsp;student passionately&nbsp;studying clinical counseling. She is&nbsp;engaged to Jordan Corl and also has an adorable pup named Kassie. The bride is excited to celebrate this season together with her sister!

Emily Rueckert

BridesmaidEmily is the groom's younger sister. She lives in Northern Virginia and works in marketing.&nbsp;Emily and the bride have grown close over the past year&nbsp;bonding over concerts they've been to, fun/crazy/hectic family vacations and having the same name! Among many other great qualities, Emily&nbsp;is a an amazing artist and a&nbsp;beautiful&nbsp;singer -&nbsp;often singing with her dad at local venues, in worship at her church,&nbsp;or veggie tales songs with her siblings. The bride can't wait to move closer to Emily and spend more time with her as a future&nbsp;sister-in-law!

Christiana Santos

BridesmaidChristiana is the groom's older sister. She is married to Tony with their two amazing girls, Ariela and Sophia.&nbsp;Her and her husband had a large hand in helping Teddy propose to Emily and since the proposal&nbsp;have worked hard to teach the bride and groom all their best moves at&nbsp;salsa dancing (still a work in progress). Emily looks up to Christiana as a mentor for Occupational therapy,&nbsp;motherhood and spirituality.&nbsp;The bride is so grateful to have someone like Christiana by her side!

Sidney Scott

BridesmaidSidney is one of the bride's absolute best friends. They both&nbsp;met in high school and remained close&nbsp;throughout life's changing seasons. From the beginning, most of their time spent together has had&nbsp;to do&nbsp;with diy projects, trips to target and music festivals. You will often find Sidney and Emily stop, collaborate and listen on the dance floor so WATCH&nbsp;OUT when they get loose together.&nbsp;Sidney is extremely consistent, motivating and straight up real in her friendship with Emily. Not to mention, Sidney's family is like a second family in their support and constant love for their&nbsp;"Embly Rose."&nbsp;The bride believes everyone&nbsp;needs someone like Sidney in their&nbsp;life and is&nbsp;incredibly thankful to have such a special friend by her side through this season.

Katherine Cargill

BridesmaidKathy is one of the bride's best friends.&nbsp;A random&nbsp;Facebook post about&nbsp;searching for roommates in college is what brought the two together. After meeting, the two 5'2" ladies&nbsp;immediately hit it off and&nbsp;lived together for their last 2 years of college. Apple picking, Taco Tuesdays, 4 AM study sessions and&nbsp;holiday parties are how they spent much of their time in undergrad.&nbsp;Since Kathy is still living in Lynchburg, her and the bride have remained close in relationship and in distance.&nbsp;Kathy has always had&nbsp;a big heart for farming and holistic approaches to medicine and all-natural cooking (she makes the best gluten-free bread). She is currently a middle school teacher for science and&nbsp;is married to Michael Cargill. Emily is so grateful for Kathy's loving spirit and friendship!

Meghan Ehko

BridesmaidMeghan is a best friend of the bride.&nbsp;She is a Physician's Assistant in Pennsylvania, is a beautiful model and loves all things Disney. Meghan and Emily lived together for most of their college years and bonded over many adventures they shared. Halloween costumes, late night talks about Jesus,&nbsp;foam party concerts, and&nbsp;wandering into good,&nbsp;fun&nbsp;mischief are a few things you will catch&nbsp;Emily and Meg&nbsp; bonding over.&nbsp;Post college, Emily and Meg are still an adventurous bunch and will travel near and far to visit one another.&nbsp;Although the two don't get to see each other often being so far away, Emily cherishes her time with Meg.

BridesmaidLauren is one of Emily's oldest friends. Brought together by the amazing&nbsp;Camp Thunderbird over 10 years ago, their families remained close ever since with annual visits and adventures. Not a year goes by that Lauren and Emily don't plan at least one visit to see each other and it is always a blast whether it's hiking mountains, exploring Charleston or beachin' it up.&nbsp;Lauren and her husband,&nbsp;Carver,&nbsp;live in South Carolina with their two beautiful pups, Sawyer and Summit.&nbsp;Emily is so thankful for Lauren's friendship throughout the years!

Best ManStephen Cannon and Teddy are cousins and Childhood best friends. Being 1&nbsp;of 15&nbsp;kids, the odds were pretty high that Teddy would be able to find his best friend with the Cannons. If you think there are some things that are impossible to be competitive about, Teddy and Stephen have probably set records trying to beat each other doing just those things. Through their fierce competition, Stephen has pushed Teddy to new levels in his dreams, athleticism, maturity, and&nbsp;walk with Jesus. It is also through Stephen and his wife that Teddy met Emily :)

Jack and Teddy met in college. Although they did not meet each other until the second semester of college at Virginia Tech, they quickly connected through bible study,&nbsp;video games, but probably most importantly ultimate frisbee. Jack pushed Teddy to pursue Christ and love on those around him on a level Teddy needed to be on. They led a bible study together, captained the Ultimate team at Tech, and went on a 2 month Ireland missions trip.&nbsp;Jack has played a massive role in Teddy's spiritual maturity and as such, they have remained close friends.

Andres Lopez

GroomsmanAndres..... What a guy, let me tell you. Andres and Teddy met each other while volunteering as youth group leaders for The King's Chapel. Through leading worship together, doing silly skit characters, and spending hours serving others, they have developed&nbsp;a very special bond. Andres continues to challenge Teddy in his walk with God, making sure he stays grounded in God's love for him.

GroomsmanBen Leopold, or better known as Bern Lehr-a-perd and Teddy were introduced a few years ago through a mutual friend. Ben and Teddy have been in the same men's bible study for the past few years and Ben has become a valuable mentor of Teddy. Ben has the voice of an angel and is musically talented beyond all reason, although you wouldn't know it from his quiet demeanor. Believe me, you will see Ben getting DOWN on the dance floor. Just make sure to TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?!

Chris Craddock

GroomsmanChris Craddock is Teddy's Real Estate Boss...... So really, there are only nice things here to say about him here. In all honesty, Chris has been a father figure to Teddy over the past few years and has been so instrumental in&nbsp;Teddy's growth for him to be&nbsp;able to stand up on the stage with Emily. Chris has proven time and time again his belief in Teddy for who he&nbsp;is able to become, even when Teddy is unable to see it. Chris is the life of the party, the one who is quick to make someone feel comfortable and loved, but also quick to instigate a wrestling match or fight between two people. If you have a chance, you have to hear one of Chris' stories. He's got a lot of good ones ;)

Nick Mudrezow

GroomsmanNick Mud is the MAN. No, like seriously. Nick is THE MAN. Teddy and Nick met in youth group when Nick was still the youth pastor at TKC. Nick's passion for teaching and vision for the youth group was unlike anything Teddy had ever experienced before. So many crazy moments in the youth group, but through the insanity of leading and completely exhausting themselves at each camp, they grew close and have continued to challenge each other.

Andrew Felter

GroomsmanAndrew Felter and Teddy met in church as small children and a fast bond was created. If there was anyone in the world God could have given Teddy to challenge him in athletics, Andrew Felter was the perfect gift. A&nbsp;genius who skipped a grade because he was bored, Andrew has yet to face a challenge he can't complete. A marathon runner, triathlete, top government worker, worship leader, and&nbsp;loving husband, Andrew continues to lead the example for how to do it right. Teddy hopes to one day run a race with Andrew, but will have to start saying no to free pizza in order to get there.

Samuel Ogburn

GroomsmanSamuel Ogburn and Teddy met years and years ago at a Christian camp on the frisbee fields. It was through frisbee that Teddy was finally cool enough to connect to Sam. Sam is one of the kindest people you will ever meet, although he does a great job hiding it. Although living 2 hours away in Richmond, Sam continues to make the trip worth it every time. Sam examples kindness and generosity as well as a fresh perspective that Teddy deeply needs in&nbsp;his life. Let's also not forget that Sam is the only reason Teddy has a half decent ability to dress himself.

Gabriel Rueckert

Junior GroomsmanGabriel Rueckert, known more commonly to most by "Gabe," is Teddy's step brother and good friend. Although their conversations do not consist of more than excavators and the song Country Roads by John Denver, Gabe knows how to bring joy and laughter into Teddy's life. Gabe is fearless in the face of trying new things and has a smile and laugh that will melt your heart. I've loved connecting with him his first 4 years of life and am excited for the ones to come!

What is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to RSVP online or by mail? 

Please&nbsp;RSVP online&nbsp;by Sunday&nbsp;March&nbsp;1st. To&nbsp;RSVP,&nbsp;simply select the RSVP page on the task bar of this&nbsp;website and enter your name as well as your reserved plus one or family members so we can ensure a full head count.

What is the dress code for your wedding? 

It is&nbsp;encouraged that all guests&nbsp;wear&nbsp;semi-formal/cocktail attire for the&nbsp;wedding.

What time should I arrive? 

Please plan to arrive at&nbsp;the ceremony venue by 3:30pm to ensure proper parking and seating prior to the ceremony start.

What should guests expect after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, the wedding party will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. &nbsp;Guests can head straight to the reception at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center&nbsp;where there will be light refreshments and hors devours served until the reception begins at 6:00pm.

Will there be a shuttle to and/or from the ceremony and reception? 

Unfortunately, there will not be a shuttle between venues.&nbsp;Please plan to drive from the ceremony to the reception. The commute is approximately 15 minutes.

Is there parking available near the ceremony and reception venues? 

Yes. For the ceremony, there will be plenty of parking for our guests&nbsp;on site. For the reception, immediate family, seniors and the wedding party will have priority for on-site parking and additional parking will be in the overflow parking lot at the Van Dyck Park next door. Directions will be provided by parking volunteers to ensure your safe and timely arrival.

Can I bring my children? 

With so many loved ones with little ones, the bride and groom are excited to announce that children are welcome to enjoy this special day. There will be on-site childcare during the ceremony and reception providing crafts, coloring and snacks. Children under the age of 8 years old will be required to be in childcare during dinner and can join in celebrating afterwards.&nbsp;We ask all families who plan to bring their children inform Emily Martin by March 1st.

Can I bring a plus one? 

Any plus ones are included in the RSVP list. Please ensure you&nbsp;RSVP online for your plus one. If you are unsure or have&nbsp;any questions about your plus one, please contact&nbsp;Emily Martin&nbsp;by March 1st for confirmation.

Will the ceremony and reception be taking place indoors or outdoors? 

The wedding ceremony will be taking place indoors of a beautiful chapel. The reception will be taking place indoors as well at a local community center.&nbsp;During cocktail hour, guests will have the option&nbsp;to enjoy the outdoor pergola, landscaping and outdoor park&nbsp;should they choose to venture outside. However, everyone can rest assured knowing there will be indoor accommodations at all times.

What will the weather be like at this time of year?

In past years, the weather has fluctuated in Virginia during this time of year being as low as the 40s and as high as the 70s. We are hoping for a good medium in the 60s. Although the ceremony and reception will take place indoors, we encourage guests to bring a jacket to stay warm in between.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options? 

There will be gluten-free food options available.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We ask that anyone who needs wheelchair accessibility, please contact Emily Martin by March 1st so any special accommodations can be made in advance.

Can I take pictures and/or post photos of your wedding on social media? 

The bride and groom ask that all refrain&nbsp;from picture taking until the reception to ensure all shots are taken by the professionals in an organic environment. Professional photographers and a&nbsp;videographer has been hired to capture every moment.&nbsp;Following the ceremony, guests are encouraged to take or post as many photos and videos as they wish using our hashtag #SuckerForRueckert&nbsp;

What time is the reception scheduled to end? 

The bride and groom send off will be taking place at approximately 9:30pm so all guests can expect the reception to end at that time.
