Buckle up, our story is a funny one..

The first time we ever met, was in 2010. Tim was 15 and Emily was 17 and a half. (She is two and a half years older than him, not 3 😂) Emily was hanging out with her older sister Lauryn and her new boyfriend, Patrick. Lauryn and Patrick had met and hit it off instantly and have been together ever since, married with two beautiful nieces that we get to love on. So one day we were hanging out and we had to go pick Pat’s younger brother up from highschool that day. Emily was sitting in the back, and when Tim opened the door and got in the car. Emily instantly felt a confusing feeling of “wow he’s a cutie, but gross he’s 15 and younger than you” Emily was into older guys at the time but it quickly became a joke, How cute she thought pat’s younger brother was.

For the next 9 years, the families grew closer. The Hopkins welcomed in all of the Miller girls into their family and tribe. They were over there every Sunday bbqing and hanging out. And during this time, Emily and Tim saw other people, Tim lived in Reno for a bit and Emily lived in San Diego. But whenever holidays would roll around, or those fun Sunday bbqs, they would be around eachother. Getting to know eachother on a family/friend level. Although Emily did always have that little crush, and that feeling pinging at her that she kept pushing down and ignoring, because there was no way they could ever go there and possibly mess up this incredible family unit they were a part of.

until one day, that timing fell into place for them. Tim had been going through a tough breakup at the time, and started calling Emily for advice. Asking her to go on hikes and hang outside of our family BBQs. Emily had also had gone through a hard breakup and they spent hours talking about the things they both had gone through.

Emily started feeling very confused. If you know Tim, you know he’s a pretty quiet man until you get to know him. He’s a hard one to read and she wasn’t sure if he was starting to feel the same feelings she had been feeling. But god forbid was she going to be the first one to say something. Be shot down and then have to see him at their family bbq on Sunday! So she patiently waited for him to make the first move. For a solid year.

No moves had been made. enter Covid lock down. Tim and emily decided to lock down at Emily’s moms house, where pat, lauryn and their daughter Hayley were living at the time. If we were going to have to lockdown, we wanted to be together and with our family. We had no idea how long this weird vacation would be but what a perfect opporunity to start a relationship and get to know eachother. So the second night of lockdown, Tim was acting a lot more flirtatious than he ever had before, giving Emily some clear signs that the feelings she was feeling, he was also feeling them too. Tim likes to say he was the one who made the first move, but in fact Emily was the one who decided she couldn’t go a second longer not telling this man how she felt. Risk and all. After that, they were inseparable. Both not being able to go into work during Covid, giving them a lot of time with one another. They started to “date” while the whole world was closed down. It was an interesting time. But they had also been thrown into a house remodel at the Hopkins. And instead of going on dates, they were building a house together. Ripping down walls and taking on painting projects.

it was a bit nerve - racking. Hoping and praying that this would be a good fit. But you really don’t know until you dive in and give it your all.

so that’s exactly what we did, we gave it our all and never looked back and it has been the easiest relationship both of us have been in! Not to mention easy for family holidays ;)

That’s our story, for those of you who don’t know! & we are beyond excited to have our closest friends & families together to celebrate!

We are so excited to celebrate our love and dance the night away with you all in rustic and romantic Sonora! In an effort to save you some time and money, we have looked into nearby accommodations!  We thank you so much for making the trip happen to celebrate with us on our wedding weekend in Sonora!

Located 2.4 miles away from the wedding venue! Newly remolded and very cute and cozy. Complimentary breakfast included and you are able to use all imentities at the Sonora Inn - these two hotels are right next to eachother and are sister hotels. The lumberjack inn was Emily’s favorite and top choice! Complimentary breakfast included Check in at 4pm / check out at 11 am Pet friendly upon request

Hotel Lumberjack 

The best western is spacious and comfy. Located 6 miles away from the wedding venue and is about a 13 minute drive by car! This was Emily and Tim’s second favorite choice! Check in at 3 pm / check out at 4 pm Complimentary Breakfast included Pet friendly upon request

The Best Western 

The Sonora Inn was built in 1896 and originally named the Hotel Victoria. Located in downtown Sonora. This hotel is a bit old school (maybe even a little haunted) and was Emily & Tim’s number 3 choice on the list of hotels. It’s still very cute and quaint, but not as updated as the others that are listed Breakfast included Checkin at 4 pm / checkout 11 am 2.3 miles away from wedding venue / 5 minute drive Pet friendly upon request

Ceremony at 4 p.m.

please arrive around 3:45 to mingle and find your seat. There will be a big parking lot when you arrive that you can park in. At the entrance there will be two golf carts waiting for you to escort you to the chapel where we will be having our ceremony. The Ceremony will start as soon as everyone has arrived and is seated. Ceromony scheduled to start at 4 pm

Reception to follow in the reception hall up the hill! 

After the wedding ceremony, you will be directed to our cocktail hour that is located up the hill. Our golf cart escorts will be available for anyone who needs rides

We do apologize, but since the venue is large and surrounded with water fixtures, we do ask that you leave your kiddos at home and have a date night to celebrate with us! Whoever is listed on your invite, is who is invited and accounted for. Thank you so much for understanding.

You may leave your car parked in the parking lot over night if you need! They are super flexible and we want everyone to be safe :)  There is also a taxi service in Sonora where you can schedule your ride home ahead of time, or you can call when you’re ready to head back to your hotel after the wedding but keep in mind it may take some time! We are able to party as late as we want in the reception hall, so also keep that in mind!

Wedding attire: We want you to wear what you feel beautiful in! Cocktail attire and be sure to dress warm as it will be chilly! Wedding ceremony and reception will be inside and the cocktail hour will be outside with heaters!
