It all started on a chilly December weekend in 2017. Finals were over and McNeese State University students were celebrating the Christmas season at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house. Andres, a sophomore, caught the eye of Emily, a freshman. After the party, Emily asked around about the cute guy she saw at the Christmas party, found out who he was, and discovered they knew some people in common. Some of these friends mentioned Emily to Andres and he reached out to her by phone. At the beginning of February 2018, Emily walked across from the Chi Omega house to the Kappa Sigma house to officially meet Andres for the first time. They began dating in March, and have been together since. Through a bachelors and masters degree each, countless vacations and family gatherings, a pandemic, two hurricanes, the birth of a nephew, a year of long distance, and now planning a wedding and starting their new chapter of life together in Stamford, Connecticut with their two cats, Obi Wan and Coco. They will return to Lake Charles, the place where it all started, to tie the knot.
