Luis and Emily met doing what they both loved: making music. They became part of the same songwriting circles, getting to know each other in between rounds at Belcourt Taps. That's where a dear friendship began and an appreciation for each other's talent, sense of humor, and kindness.

At a mutual friend's engagement, Luis and Emily sat down beside each other and caught up on each other's lives. They laughed together and shared online dating horror stories. It was the first one on one conversation and it changed everything.

Luis and Emily accidentally spent the next two days together. Emily had asked Luis to play the next morning in her band for Sunday church and they had their first unofficial lunch date after. That lunch made Emily late to an afternoon meeting, but she remembered thinking that she might have just had lunch with her husband and that was probably worth more in the long run.

Emily then went to Nashville venue, The East Room to watch Luis' band play. Emily did not even know Luis played piano until that gig! One late night trip to Waffle House after the show lead to the first kiss.

Luis called Emily the next day and asked her out on their first official date. He asked her to go to a Monkees concert in Memphis for that Saturday. Emily had plans Saturday and could not attend. So Luis bought tickets for Friday night instead just so she would be able to go. He picked her up in a suit vest and piano tie, which let Emily immediately know that this date was serious. They had the best of Memphis BBQ and saw a great concert. They couldn't stop talking the entire night and it was the best date either had ever been on.

From then on, they were inseparable. Their wonderful friendship turned into something more so easily and quickly that it felt like a missing puzzle piece had just fallen into place. Three months into dating, Luis asked Emily to go to New York City to see a Genesis concert. They celebrated Emily's birthday in the city and spent the whole weekend exploring together.

Luis said 'I love you' very early on. He always said he knew immediately. Emily took a few weeks longer, but soon realized it was obvious that this was the real thing. It turned out everyone else in their life realized it too.

Luis co-produced Emily's debut album earlier this year. They also adopted their second cat during this time. It was one of the best memories to share together.

This whole journey, Luis and Emily continued to fall in love and plan a life together. In their many adventures, they created a concert bucket list. At the top of Emily's list was Joni Mitchell, despite the fact she had not played a concert in twenty years. When she announced a show at The Gorge in Seattle, we immediately bought tickets and prepared for a trip of a lifetime.

During the final concert of the weekend, Luis proposed and asked Emily to marry him. He asked during the last night song of the weekend. The song was called 'Crowded Table,' which was a song that they had shared to discuss how they wanted to live their life and raise a family. They both desired to have an open door where everyone knew they were welcome in their home. It was the perfect proposal and Emily was shocked. That is the story from the beginning to now, but it's really just getting started. Emily and Luis are so excited to take this next step and start their lives together.
