Emily and Peter met online in spring 2018 after Emily's friends peer pressured her into trying online dating. Emily had told them "fine I'll talk to some people but I'm never going to go on a date with anyone!" That mindset quickly flew out the window after Emily and Peter connected and began to get to know each other. They started dating long distance while Peter lived in Calgary and Emily lived in Lethbridge.

Fast forward and Emily and Peter had moved in together in Lethbridge while Emily was in university. On August 19th 2021, Peter proposed while on a romantic evening walk through Nicholas Sheeran Park in Lethbridge, one of their favorite places to spend time. He wanted to propose on a hike in the Crowsnest Pass but Emily had figured out his plan. Peter wanted the proposal to be a surprise so he asked a few weeks earlier than Emily had suspected he would.

Peter and Emily are now living in Calgary while Peter works on completing his electrician apprenticeship but they have plans to move out of the city once Peter is a journeyman. They want to settle down somewhere where their favorite outdoor activities will be right outside their door.
