We met at Cumberland Smokehouse, in downtown Charleston, about nine years ago. He and Ripley were hosting an open mic night every Tuesday, and I was working at Ruth’s Chris, a few blocks away. We were introduced by our mutually favorite bartender, Neil, and I was immediately intrigued by his long curly hair, and crazy red wool jacket with wolves on it…I ended up singing a really embarrassing rendition of Bobby McGee, but I got his attention!
We had our first date at Gene’s Haufbrau, playing pool and getting to know each other. Our next date, he invited me over for dinner. He’d worked all day making Shrimp n’ Grits (a Charleston staple) I was so impressed, and he won me over and it was the best Shrimp n’ Grits I’ve ever had!
We’ve spent about seven years living together,
We spent three amazing years living on Folly beach, James doing his music and me cooking. We learned how to surf and how to find sharks teeth.
We’ve been lucky enough to build a life and a home together, and make a bunch of amazing friends along the way! We can’t wait to see all of you and share our special day with you.
