Emily and Josh met at the University of Iowa. Emily was a research assistant in a lab, and Josh was a new graduate student rotating. Josh ended up choosing to join the lab, and shortly after that the two began dating.

Both of them love being outside in nature. Much of their free time is spent going on hikes in the woods on the weekends.

On July 16, 2025 Josh proposed to Emily. It was a beautiful evening spent with family and friends who had gathered to watch and celebrate with the couple.
