Our story began in 2018, sparked by a Cornell connection. Our first date—a Padres game followed by a bike ride through Balboa Park—kindled a bond that has grown into a deep and lasting relationship. Since that day, we’ve found joy in sharing life’s moments, and have developed a partnership grounded in love, laughter, and trust.

We’ve made homes together in Pacific Beach, Park City, Barcelona, and Carlsbad, weaving our lives closer with every move. During the pandemic, we visited 22 National Parks, which became unforgettable adventures that strengthened our ties to nature, and to each other. Through all our experiences we knew that we were destined to be married.

Our engagement was a standout moment: Derek proposed at Solitude Resort in Utah on the Highway to Heaven, a location that blended our romance and commitment to build a beautiful life together.

We’re now settled in Carlsbad with our goldendoodle, Ezra—a nod to our Cornell days. We’re grateful for our families who’ve shaped our journey, with Emily’s family making California our home, and Derek’s family making Utah our home away from home. As we look forward, we’re excited for a long marriage filled with love, children, and shared dreams.
