Our Wedding

Owen and Emily met during their first semester at UMMC. Owen is in the physical therapy program, and Emily is in the occupational therapy program, but during this first semester, the programs are together. Emily and Owen met one day on the long walk back to SHRP from the anatomy lab when Owen saw Emily and asked her name. A few weeks later, Owen saw Emily running a 5k and talked to her about it the next day in the library. They then decided to do a 10k together near Owen’s hometown, which gave them some time to chat in the car. They ran the race together, and after that, they started going to church together on Sundays. The two continued to run together and study, but were nothing more than friends. Afterward, they went on a beach trip with all their friends, and that’s when things took a turn. Owen and Emily went on a few runs together during the trip, and one morning after their run, Owen made his move—he made Emily a turkey sandwich for breakfast. That’s when they started spending more time together on the trip. After the trip, the two hung out more and more, and after a visit to Oxford and a whole Labor Day weekend spent together, they started dating and have been inseparable ever since. The two quickly realized they wanted to spend their lives together, and Owen surprised Emily by proposing during a run. They truly are each other’s best friend and other half!
