We met in 2016 while both attending film school at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. As we both studied Producing at UNCSA, we had a lot to talk about! Emily worked as a PA on Marty's fourth-year film, and after that were thick as thieves. We decided to try out the "dating" thing that winter, promising to just try it out for six months until the end of the school year.

But once Marty graduated in 2017 and moved to LA, we decided we didn't want to end it yet and started our long distance journey. Marty came to visit Emily at school, while Emily visited LA during spring breaks. We also spent wonderful holidays with Emily's family in Charlotte and Marty's in Cleveland. We stayed close despite the distance, while Marty began his career in the entertainment industry and Emily finished up her degree at UNCSA.

In June 2020, the distance was finally closed when Emily moved to LA! We found that the three years were well worth the wait. In Sherman Oaks, we've united with old friends (and found new!), progressed in our careers, and brought in our sweet puppies Jolene (right) and Dolly. Fast forward to July 2023 - Marty proposes, and we're so excited to start the next step of this journey together surrounded by the people we care about the most.
