Meet Us In The Mountains!
Meet Us In The Mountains!
Notes
- If flying, you will fly into the Denver international airport which is about a 1.5 hour drive from Breckenridge. You will need to either rent a car or arrange for a shuttle from the airport. In the past, I have used the Epic Mountain Express Shuttle, but there are several other companies you can use as well. Just search online!
- Areas to book for hotels, VRBO, or Airbnb within 20-30 minutes of ceremony & reception sites:
Dillon, Breckenridge, Blue River, Frisco, Keystone, Silverthorne, Alma, FairPlay
— (Note: Breckenridge, Keystone, Frisco, Silverthorne are ski resorts towns, so you will find a lot of condos for rent. If you are looking for more of an entire house/cabin, Blue River, Alma, FairPlay and other surrounding mountain towns will have some options that are bigger than condos!)
Ideas of what to do if you’re making a vacation out of the trip:
National Parks:
- Rocky Mountain National Park is about 2.5 hours from Breckenridge, it is incredibly beautiful especially in the summertime.
You do have to book your day in the national park ahead of time due to how busy they can get in the summer.
One of my favorite hikes there is: Emerald Lake Trail. You will start at Bear Lake Trailhead and encounter three total lakes on your hike up. It is about 3.2 miles total and 1.5 hours total time.
These national parks are a bit more of a drive, but beautiful parks nonetheless
-Great Sand Dunes National Park
-Mesa Verde National Park
-Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
If you are looking to stay in the Breckenridge area, there are tons of hikes and fun things to do. I would recommend downloading AllTrails (free hiking app) and searching what area you would like to go and it will show you how difficult they are and you can get directions to the trailhead.
- In the summer, you can take the gondola in Breckenridge up and walk around. Beautiful 360 mountain views
You could take a day to go down to Colorado Springs to see the “Garden of the Gods” - beautiful giant orange rocks in the middle of the mountains
You could also take some time one day to go walk around the Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater - one of Colorados biggest attractions. There is a very nice moderate hike there that takes you through all the rock structures.
There are lots of places to go whitewater rafting in Colorado. A popular one is near “The Royal Gorge” which is a big attraction. There is also whitewater rafting in Idaho Springs, Salida, Breckenridge, Durango, Pagosa Springs.
**All in all, anything outdoors you want to do, Colorado has it. If you have questions, I can give you more specific hike recommendations or places to stay depending on what you’d like to do while you’re there.
