You might be asking why we chose to get married at a Boy Scout camp, well, Boy Scouts is where our story began. Ryan volunteers with Mashpee Boy Scout Troop 36, where he earned Eagle Scout in 2006. He continues to volunteer on campouts, meetings, and events with the Troop today. Emily's brothers were involved with Troop 36, which is where Emily and Ryan first saw each other.
Ryan new immediately at first sight that he needed to get to know Emily and any time she attended a scouting event, he made sure to take time to talk to Emily. Emily however, didn't feel the same at first. Many offers to hang out or go on dates were made, and few if any were accepted. But Ryan was not deterred and eventually Emily realized what Ryan was all about and slowly let him in to her life. At this point, Ryan's friends affectionately referred to Emily as Berta. They knew Ryan was pursuing someone and spending a lot of time with them, but Ryan did not want to put the cart ahead of the horse and announcing anything before their relationship was more solid.
Eventually, Ryan planned a ski trip to Sugarloaf that Emily finally agreed to attend, and it was on that trip that Ryan and Emily agree that their relationship started.
