Wedding Party

Jordan (Jordi) Swann
Jordan (Jordi) Swann - Matron of Honor
Jordan has known me since day 1, literally. She has been one of my biggest protectors and greatest friends. She has walked with me through so many of life's trials, speaking up when necessary and listening when I need an ear. She is the best mom to Ellie Kay and Violet Ann, and I am so thankful to share so many memories of backyard dance routines, gymnastics and CHS sports, traveling, and Baylor with her.
Chavez Scott
Chavez Scott - Groomsman
Chavez and I have been brothers on and off the football field since Whitehaven High School-- where I remember spending many nights at his parents'. Pound for pound, he is easily the strongest in the line up. He is a man of few words, and his consistent loyalty has been a deep source of respect and encouragement in my life. Chavez is a pledged Alpha and started his third year of medical school recently; one day he will repair my busted knee! His academic perseverance joined with his relentless character has been inspiring to watch. I can only dream to be as marketable as this young man-- so glad to have him on board!
Katie Dix
Katie Dix - Maid of Honor
Katie and I met while working at Student Life camp during college. Though we only spent 4 weeks on the same team, this friend left such an impact and has stuck with me since. She's the goofiest, most honest friend, the most caring and hardworking nurse, and the best whale-talker alive. Her willingness to talk about any (and every) topic often leaves me rolling. I'm thankful for our many phone calls, our travel adventures, and her longing to look more like Christ!
Chris Willis
Chris Willis - Groomsman
Chris has been a brother and teammate to me since my freshman year in college at Lambuth University. This "ole sport" has shown me a great deal of hospitality as a direct correlation to his relationship with Christ. Chris has given me haircuts, been my taxi to Walmart, and invited me into his own home. After so many free haircuts he convinced me to purchase my own pair of clippers to start cutting my own hair; it was a rough transition, but this is one of the many ways he has stood by one of his favorite phrases: "Go out and catch a fish for a man and he will have a fish sandwich for a day; teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." I'm honored to be able to call such a committed and gracious young man brother.
Kristin Short
Kristin Short - Bridesmaid
Kristin and I met before I left for Baylor, and I convinced this future President of DDD and Baylor Homecoming Queen to be my friend by telling my one and only funny story. This steadfast friend has spoken such truth to me over the years. I am thankful for our years as roommates at Baylor, for her wisdom and honesty, and for her desire for fear of God and the Scriptures to dictate her steps, rather than fear of man.
James Korn
James Korn - Groomsman
James has been a major source of encouragement during mine and Emily's season of dating. Calling him a positive force would be an understatement! His consistent support has helped me manage stress as I've transitioned into a new career-- joining him in the ranks of teaching. Our fiancees are roommates, and they often tease that we're only marrying them to hang out with each other more. It has been great getting to know James and a joy to witness him dedicate his life to Christ. I appreciate his vulnerable spirit and his eagerness to share the good work the Lord is doing in his life. It's always a fun occasion when we get together with the future Mrs. Korn and Mrs. Dickerson-- Teach For America has helped kindle some great friendships!
Aeron Glover
Aeron Glover - Groomsman
Yet another high school teammate! Since John P. Freeman middle school I've run track and played football alongside Aeron. He is as fast on the track and field as he is in the classroom. Aeron is easily the most competitive in the line up. Although his competitive nature has stirred up much debate, it is ultimately the reason he is employed by Google in NYC. It has been a pleasure befriending Aeron and watching all his progress; I'm grateful for his brotherhood. I had the honor of being a groomsman in Aeron's wedding this June, and I'm looking forward to hosting the crew in Texas!
Katie (KJ) Henry
Katie (KJ) Henry - Bridesmaid
KJ and I met through Teach For America. We were placed as geometry teachers at rival high schools in South Dallas, and we originally became best friends out of desperation. (We both had no idea what we were doing.) But, Jesus knew I would learn so much from this faithful friend. From late-night lesson planning and QT runs for Reese's to 9:00am service at TVC and brunch at Breadwinners, this friend – her joy, generosity, and passion for justice in His name – has blessed me indescribably.
Kaitlin(cita) Ashmore
Kaitlin(cita) Ashmore - Bridesmaid
I met Kaitlin in my first class at Baylor as she wooed the entire class with her joyful, carefree spirit. We originally bonded over our mutual love for the Spanish language and later joined DDD together. This friend rode all the waves with me (oh, sophomore slump). What a sweet thing it is to walk so closely alongside a friend as Christ transforms both of your lives. She pursues Jesus so fearlessly and recklessly and is a friend I can count on to speak truth. (And, she is a soon-to-be beautiful Momma – lavish love upon her and baby Stan!) I am thankful to have her celebrating Rico and me in spirit as an honorary bridesmaid!
Cymone (C$$) Lonon
Cymone (C$$) Lonon - Bridesmaid
Cymone was my TFA coach. As a needy-corps member, it was easy to make her be my friend. I am so thankful for this friend and our conversations about education, racial reconciliation, and the Cross. She is quick to converse about tough issues that matter, but her humility in these conversations is what truly astounds me. She is a phenomenal teacher who loves her students fiercely, a hospitable friend, a loving daughter/granddaughter to her family, and the best, most intentional listener.
Phillip Shaw
Phillip Shaw - Groomsman
Phill' has more like an older brother than a cousin to me. He's been a consistent role model in my life, is always willing to listen, and offers honest advice. His humble spirit is infectious. We often reminisce about all the backyard football, basketball, and video game breaks in between. Phillip earned his BA in Economics and History. at Vanderbilt University., and he currently lives in California tending to a charter school's budget and financing. I am extremely grateful to have him in my lineup!
Keairr Butts
Keairr Butts - Best Man
I am the oldest of seven children, and KeAirr fourth in the line-up! He's a joy to be around and probably the goofiest in nature. Since grade school, KeAirr has been quick to love and sacrifice his own comfort for others. It has been an inspiring privilege to watch this young man grow so boldly in his relationship with Christ, and it was no surprise to me when he began his career as a firefighter. It's hard to hang out with KeAirr without a grin on your face, and I'm blessed to have him in my line up as the Best Man.
Katherine (Kathy) Gunning
Katherine (Kathy) Gunning - Bridesmaid
Katherine and I were on the same mission's team at Student Life camp. Polar opposites in many ways, this friend balanced me well that summer. Since then, she has been one of my biggest prayer warriors. She listens so well, is quick to view things with a Gospel lens, and is blessed with the gift of affirmation. Katherine is one of my favorite dance partners, laughs freely, and loves fully. She is also a phenomenal photographer – check out her work! http://www.katherine-claire.com/
