Chad and Emily met in August of 2019 when a few friends set them up to meet at a group dinner. They continued to hang out in a big group of couples until they finally went on their first date alone in September of 2019.

On December 23, 2023, Chad suggested that they go for a walk along Bel Air Main Street to look at Christmas lights, and if you know Emily, you know that this is never something she would turn down! They walked all through town - to the Armory, to the courthouse, to Shamrock Park, and then to Rockfield Manor - to see all of the beautiful light displays. As they got back to the house, Emily walked ahead of Chad to open the screen door so Chad could unlock the main door. When she turned around to check on him, he was down on one knee at the top of the front steps of their home! The best part - Chad thought ahead, pulled up and turned on the Ring Doorbell so that it would record the entire proposal!
