Our Wedding

Emily and Michael's story began in 2019 — two months after Emily moved to Arizona and six months into Michael’s graduate program at ASU. On the night of January 19, 2019, Emily and Michael met at a mutual friends going away party in Tempe. Michael was in a boot (from his first ankle surgery) and used the charming line, "Will you come stand next to me at the bar and be my other crutch? I left the other one at home.” They started talking while waiting for drinks and there was a connection from the start. The next day Michael asked Emily for her number and a week later they went on their first date. While talking at dinner, Emily had a thought that she’d never had before: “I’m going to marry this man.” This was something Michael would not discover until proposing to Emily four years later. After dating for six months, they went their separate ways (or so they thought). A year and a half had passed when Emily reached out to Michael to see if he wanted to catch up over lunch. Lunch turned into dinner, which turned into weekend hikes, concerts, fishing trips, and eventually, spending holidays with each other's families. Fast forward to September 2022 when Emily and Michael moved in together with their kitties Dune and Lulu. The four of them learned to love (or perhaps respectfully support) each other’s favorite sports teams and spent many evenings comforting each other as said teams continued to let them down. Over the years Emily and Michael have continued to comfort each other through the loss of close family members and Michael’s motorcycle accident. Michael and Emily enjoy traveling with each other, whether it is a quick trip up to Northern Arizona or a trip to their hometowns. In February 2024, the pair took a trip to Hawaii. Michael told Emily to get a new dress and made sure she had a hair and nail appointment right before they left because, unbeknownst to her, Michael had a photographer waiting on the beach to capture the happiest moment in their life. Michael proposed to Emily at sunset on February 2nd, 2024. Emily works part time as a teacher at a private learning academy while going back to school (at Arizona State University, which Michael is very excited about) to study Speech and Hearing Science. Michael is a Marriage and Family Therapist in Phoenix. Michael, Emily, Dune and Lulu love their happy little family and the life they have created over the years, and cannot wait to celebrate with you all on July 26, 2025.&nbsp;
