We could not be more excited to celebrate the gift of Marriage with all of our people on September 3rd, and we would appreciate all the prayer and support as we are in this season of engagement.

Garrett's Side:

Getting to know Emily has been the most fulfilling, joyful, and life giving adventures I have and will forever do. Our story starts in May of 2020 thanks to a very sweet friend that introduced us. After a couple of months of not seeing each other, we eventually were given each others numbers and started texting. I really enjoyed getting to know her, and with a little warning that Emily was going to ghost me if I didnt ask her on a date already - I asked. I drove back a day early from the beach and took her on a GREAT first date. Yes, so selfless am I, it paid off though. We were able to sit and do one of our favorite things: eat tacos and watch the sunset. Quickly, we began to talk about intentional topics couples usually don’t get to talk about for a long time. I began to not so slowly fall in love with who she was and knew that she was somebody I wanted to be around for a long time. A little before a year into our relationship, we sat down and both mutually had the desire to pursue marriage together. The process of going to get the ring and then hold on to it was so special. I knew in holding onto the ring I was holding the biggest promise I will ever make. It kept reminding me of the beauty of what marriage was designed as and for. With the help of some very special friends, I proposed next to a pond and it was beautiful. We used to go on walks around this pond and talk about whatever was on our minds, it was a special place and a no brainer for me to propose at. I’m so excited to wake up every morning to love and learn about Emily for the rest of my life. She is patient, kind, selfless, intentional, and so many more qualities I desire to be more of.

Emily's Side:

It all began on a cold January evening, a Tuesday night to be exact. I was rushing from my first ever tennis league match over to my friend’s place to watch the Bachelor because #community you know. This friend is known for inviting all sorts of people to watch, so making new friends wasn’t an unrealistic expectation to have when going to her house. But this time was different- there was actually a really handsome guy who seemed to know everyone there! I had never personally met a man committed to watching the Bachelor but there is a first time for everything! He was super cute and but a little quiet so after the episode on the way out, I being my extrovert self managed to introduce myself and find out he was looking for #community too while he was working in Atlanta for an internship. It was the most brief conversation but it was definitely notable to say the least. Flash forward to May 2020, Garrett and I were reconnected again, almost 5 months after we met and I was terribly afraid to admit that I had a feeling this handsome man standing outside his truck outside to pick me up was going to completely rock my world.

As you can probably guess, we went on many a dates that summer from rooftop sunsets and tacos to deep talks on the dock at the lake. I knew pretty early on that Garrett was different than any other guy I’d met and it was his intentionality and tenderness with me that knew he was someone I’d out to keep around. Even though he told me he didn’t want to date until he finished grad school (aren’t you glad we didn’t do that, G? :) )

And the rest is history! While he’s been able to get me to know a couple of the words to his favorite country songs and somehow he now owns more Lululemon than I, the “city girl” do, I have just loved learning more about the man of God Garrett is and strives to be. He is oh so fun, oh so consistent, oh so faithful and exactly the kind of man I’ve been searching for. Getting to change my name to Emily Owen is truly an answered prayer to say the least.
