Our Wedding

It all started in March of 2020 — Kyle and Emily met for the first time at Bank Square coffee shop in Beacon, NY. They both ordered lattes and chatted for a couple of hours. It turned out that they had both graduated from SUNY New Paltz but had never crossed paths before matching on a dating app. After the coffee shop closed, Kyle walked Emily to her car, and they joked that, if COVID didn’t cause everything to shut down, they would go home out to a restaurant on their next date. The next week, COVID caused everything to shut down.

How it all began

Over the next few months, the two had a modern-day courtship — instead of long, handwritten love letters written from afar, they had candlelit FaceTime dates and watched movies together, but from their own couches. Emily baked a cake and sent Kyle a slice through the mail, and Kyle sent Emily a box of ramen noodles so they could make dinner together from separate kitchens. When they could go out, their dates were in public parks and even the McDonald’s parking lot, and Kyle finally asked Emily to be his girlfriend at the local drive-in movie theater.

For the last five years, the two have been inseparable, and they are so happy to be starting the next chapter of their lives as husband and wife!
