It all started with a simple message…

Hey :)
….and it was ignored
Carlos was persistent and tried again,
hey :) lucky for him this time she answered Hey back, which he then responded with you have beautiful eyes.

After informing Emily he’s back in his hometown and had just served his term in the Marines, Carlos put all his cards on the table and asked her if she would like to hang out on Halloween, October 31st 2016. But..he was hit with a hard, no thank you.

Emily didn’t know much about Carlos but wanted to know more about him. As time went on and they started to see each other and talk to each other more, she realized she was developing feelings every time they saw each other.

At first they started off as friends but soon Emily and Carlos realized they were growing feelings for each other. Little hangouts started to multiply and turn into dates and as they spent more and more time with each other, they began to know this was something they might want. Carlos and Emily started to see things in the other person that they were missing in their own lives, Emily wanting someone she could be herself with and Carlos someone he could be vulnerable.
The day came when Carlos knew this was something he wanted when he and Emily went to the VA to get started in his civilian life and while they were sitting there talking to a employee from the VA, Emily pulled out a notepad and started taking down notes and information. In that moment Carlos knew this was the girl.

Emily loved the guy Carlos was around her. He made her smile and laugh over the silliest things and made her feel she can be her true self at all times. He showed her the side of him that not many if any would see.

Carlos knew he wanted to marry her when he saw her for the person she was. He saw for such a small girl standing 5’3 how strong she was, she was stronger than any person he had ever met. Most of all her heart, how big her heart was, the love she had and the love she had given him, something he thought he would never feel or longed for, she gave that to him and completed him. He envied her in every way because she was everything he wasn’t and he was better with her then without her.


Fast forward a few years later, Emily said “Let’s go to Disneyworld!”
On September 14th, 2021 Carlos asked Emily to marry him and start their forever together and Emily said Yes!
