Tell me more about Succop Nature Park, the venue for Emily and Matt's wedding.
Succop Nature Park, a property managed by the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, is about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh, off of Route 8. It is a beautiful natural space with acres of woodlands, walking trails and two ponds. Also on the property is the Marcraig House, built in 1830.
What should I wear to the wedding?
We want you to be comfortable! So wear what makes you happy. The event is dressy casual, men don't need ties or jackets--but are welcome to if you that makes you feel good. Halloween costumes are ok too! The ceremony is outdoors (unless the weather really doesn’t cooperate) so you'll probably want shoes that will be good on grass. Dinner will be in an outdoor shelter but will be heated if necessary.
What time should I arrive at Succop Nature Park?
The wedding ceremony will begin at 4. However, guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the park setting, play lawn games (bocci, anyone?) and visit with the bride and groom and their wedding party.
There will be a shuttle departing the Comfort Inn making trips starting at 3:30 pm.
I see that there will be a Kabbalat Panim prior to the wedding ceremony. What is Kabbalat Panim?
Kabbalat Panim is a Jewish tradition in which guests keep the bride and groom company as they await the ketubah signing and wedding ceremony. You are welcome to visit with Emily and Matt, their families and the wedding party in the Marcraig House between 3 and 3:45.
Ketubah signing also takes place prior to the ceremony. What is a ketubah?
A ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract. Traditionally, the ketubah protected the rights of the bride. Today, a ketubah is more often a statement of the couple's aspirations for their marriage. Emily and Matt will sign their ketubah in the Marcraig House prior to the ceremony, which you may attend.
What's for dinner?
After a cocktail hour in the Marcraig House, dinner will be served buffet style in the outdoor pavillion. There will be chicken, beef and vegetarian choices. Please let us know of any special dietary needs, including gluten-free, so we can accommodate!
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Please include a note to the couple when you RSVP.
Will there be a Pittsburgh cookie table at Emily and Matt's wedding?
