Our Wedding

The ceremony and reception will be at the Metohi Istoria Estate. Our ceremony will start at 5pm, please arrive by 4.45pm to take your seats. We would like to have an unplugged ceremony and so kindly ask that you keep your phones and cameras off and away until the end of the service. Our photographers will be capturing the moment and taking photos of our guests and we will share them with you when we can. After the ceremony please take as many as you like and it would be great if you could share them with us. We are planning a blend of Greek and British customs throughout the day which will include the traditional Cretan wedding meal. This means that we will not be sending out menu options for you to pick but there will be a large variety of food to choose from. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Buses and taxis will drop off/pick up at the entrance of the Metohi Istoria grounds. There is a very short walk up to the venue and parking is available on site. Our reception will finish at 2am.

The Wedding Day

On your arrival Chania airport is a 20 minute drive from the centre and there are usually plenty of taxis outside. Uber and Bolt do not operate in Crete. On the Wedding Day The bus will be departing from Chania Bus Station. We have booked the Number 24 bus, which will be parked in the coach parking area rather than the main terminal bays. The station is quite small, and the bus will be decorated, so it should be easy to spot. There will be two departure times:3:40pm4:20pm We’ll message everyone individually to let you know which bus you’ll be on. Please note that the buses will depart promptly at these times, so make sure you allow enough time to arrive before departure. The bus home will be at the end of the night (2am) and so if you would like to leave earlier we ask that you arrange your own transport. If you don't want to prebook a taxi we have been told that you can book one on the night and there is usually a 10 minute wait. For those planning to get the bus back, the bus will return everyone to the coach station. We’re expecting one return trip to be enough, but if needed, the driver may do a second trip depending on numbers on the night.

Travel

Friday We have booked a space at Sinagogi Cocktail Bar from 6pm for welcome drinks. Gorgios and I will be there from 6–9pm, but please do stay longer if you would like to. The dress code is smart casual. As the bar doesn’t have a roof, we’d recommend bringing sunglasses and perhaps an extra layer. Everyone is welcome and no RSVP is needed.

Sunday We will be at Nea Chora Beach from 4pm for a swim and to relax by the sea. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please bring any food or drinks you would like—there are also plenty of bars and restaurants along the beachfront.We will share our exact location on WhatsApp once we have found a good spot.

Things to Do

For those coming from abroad we recommend getting accommodation around Chania's old town or Nea Chora. There are many options depending on your budget including hotels, apartments and villas. There have been some recent changes in legislation for Airbnb in Greece and so lots of property owners have moved to Booking.com or similar websites. Nea Chora has some larger hotels and is nearer the beach where we will likely meet on the Sunday. The old town has a beautiful port and great restaurants, bars and shops. It is about a half an hour walk between the two areas if you walk along the seafront.
