Mason and Emily met on Hinge, a dating app. Their first date was at Appalachian Brewing Company in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, in June of 2021. They talked the night away, staying at the restaurant until almost closing time, and have been together ever since.

Mason surprised Emily with a proposal on Friday, September 22, 2023. They planned a long weekend to visit with Emily’s brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Katie, in New York. They went for a hike at Green Lakes State Park, and when Emily stopped for a couple’s picture, Mason passed her a hand-written note to read. Emily read the note, and Mason dropped to a knee and proposed. Emily happily said YES. They then spent the remainder of the weekend enjoying their engagement in upstate New York as well as the Adirondacks.
