Talk childcare to me
We want our friends of all ages to have as much fun as possible this weekend! That’s why we’ve booked a few awesome babysitters to help out on Friday and Saturday. One of them is Emily Scalmanini - she grew up in Claremont and is the daughter of Miles’ college coach, Ken, who actually married us! Plus, EmBen babysat Emily when she was a baby, so this is definitely a full-circle moment for us! Emily will be joined by Chloe, Myah and Parker, who are all in the childcare field or have nannied previously.
On Friday from 4-10pm we hope that the kids can just run around and have fun. However, Emily, Chloe and Myah will be there to facilitate games and watch the little ones while the adults mingle.
On Saturday, all 4 sitters will run Kids Camp, which goes from 1-4:00pm. After a break, childcare will start back up at 5:30 and will run until 11pm.
Attire - what should I wear?
Friday:
Come as you are! We know many of you will be traveling, so just come in whatever is comfortable.
Saturday:
Think "California Summer Trip." Claremont should be warm, so summer-weather comfortable clothes will be in order. Everyone will need a swimsuit. Kids will be running around, and parents will be playing various lawn games (you know Miles!), so bring things you're comfortable in - this is not going to be the Kentucky Derby!
For Saturday dinner, adults will get a little dressy - think "casual summer wedding." Comfy clothes for the kiddos and/or PJs, as they'll be playing games and watching a movie.
Sunday:
Wear whatever you'll be traveling home in - again, we want you comfortable and happy!
What's the food situation?
Friday: afternoon cocktails and charcuterie table, and a taco cart for dinner. And a full bar, of course!
Saturday: breakfast in Collins Dining Hall. Snacks by the pool. Lunch in Collins. Snacks and an ice cream cart. Kids pizza dinner from one of my college bestie Laura’s local restaurant, Pizza ‘n Such, and a catered dinner for the adults, along with an open bar and dancing!
Sunday: farewell brunch in Collins!
** Please note: we will be making accommodations for gluten free guests, as Miles and Hope are both gluten free. So if that's your jam, you're all set! If you have any other allergies or dietary needs, please reach out to me and I'll be more than happy to accommodate: 909-576-9495 or eebennet@gmail.com.
Do I need to bring sheets/blankets/towels/pillows?
Nope! (But you're welcome to bring your own if you wish.) Each bed at the dorms will be provided with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, comforter, pillow and pillowcase, as well as a towel. (In all honesty, I've seen the towels and they leave a little to be desired...so if you're coming locally, maybe throw in a few of your own ;)
We will be providing beach towels for swimming time.
Please let us know if you'll need a pack 'n play or any other hard-to-find kids travel items and we will make sure to have them on hand for you.
Are the bathrooms...communal?
Yes! And: sorry! We are so excited to celebrate with everyone we know and love, and we are hoping it's not too much of an inconvenience! We aren't using nearly all the rooms on each floor, so the ratio of bathrooms:people is actually pretty decent.
Will we have access to a refrigerator?
Yes - each room has is own mini fridge and microwave. We will also have access to the downstairs kitchen in Valach Hall, our main dorm, which is called Janie's Kitchen. You can store anything in there that your family will need over the course of your stay. We will also be stocking the area with snacks and drinks.
Where can I park?
Parking will be at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. However, you can park in the loading zone to unload your luggage first, then go park.
Biszantz:
606 E. Sixth St
Claremont, CA 91711
Unloading zone:
455 E. Sixth St
What is the WiFi login and password?
We will have this for you upon arrival!
Travel - give me the deets
For those of you who are flying:
Ontario Airport is the closest airport, and will have Uber/Lyft readily available to go to campus.
You can also look up flight options at LAX, Long Beach, or even Santa Ana airports, but keep in mind that those are much further away, and would most likely require a rental car.
For those of you who are driving:
There will be a loading/unloading zone close to the dorms along E 6th St in Claremont. The address you'll want to put into your phone is:
N Mills Ave & E Sixth St, Claremont, CA.
Once you've unloaded, there is a parking lot along E Sixth St - I am waiting on confirmation from CMC on which lot we will be allowed to park in, and will update this website as I know more.
Rental Cars:
Our goal is for all activities to be on site, and for all your needs to be met throughout the weekend, so hopefully you won't need a rental car!
