All information below is still valid. However, since writing this page, we have tested out many of the methods and have additional details/ways to get there in that document.

Transportation Options

Wherever you're joining us from, you have two options for getting to your hotel/the venue in Rosarito, Mexico:

1. Get yourself to San Diego and drive to Rosarito

2. Fly directly to Tijuana and drive to Rosarito

Below, we've detailed transit information based on each option.

Transportation Options From San Diego

Drive Yourself

Drive your own vehicle from San Diego to your hotel/the venue. It's a 40 minute drive from the border. We recommend you take the toll roads and enjoy the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s also faster, with less hassle. The cost for the toll roads is approximately $8 round trip. Park your vehicle at Villa del Paraiso during the event. Please make sure to purchase Mexican car insurance ($25/day) if you decide to drive your vehicle across the border. YOUR U.S. CAR INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER YOU.

Driving across the border on Sunday from Mexico to California frequently has a 2 HOUR wait time. To avoid this, we recommend staying until Monday for a lower wait time at the border. We did this drive during the week and it only took an hour to get back to San Diego.

Private Transfer

You can schedule a private transfer from San Diego (an address/location you give them) to your hotel/the venue. This is best for a group of people, since you will need to split the cost between everybody. You need to call for price, location, and date. This MUST be scheduled in advance. When scheduling, mention that you are a guest of Villa Del Paraiso, as that will give you priority service.

Below are a couple of the drivers suggested by Villa Del Paraiso:

Bonus: Ray has a pass that allows you to cross the border much faster (estimated 30 mins) on your return trip.

General Transportation Information

Mexican Auto Insurance

All cars driving in Mexico are *required* to have Mexican auto insurance. Your US insurance does not cover you in Mexico, even if they say it does.

We recommend using Baja Bound Insurance Services. They work with two Mexico insurance providers, HDI Seguros and ACE Seguros. If you have questions about why you need Mexican Insurance when you head south across the border, look at their FAQ section.

Border Crossing

When crossing the border back and forth between Baja and San Diego, you’ll need to have a valid passport or other acceptable identification handy. When entering the United States, U.S. citizens are required to show passport, U.S. passport card, Trusted Traveler Program card (NEXUS, SENTRI, Global Entry or FAST) or an Enhanced Driver's License. Resident aliens must possess a green card. Knowing which ID to bring depends upon your method of travel (air, land, or sea). Voter's registration card, military ID, driver's license and social security cards are not considered valid forms of citizenship identification.

Transit Timing

We recommend a Thursday or Friday arrival and a Monday departure. If driving yourself, leaving on Monday is HIGHLY recommended because the border will be less busy on a Monday.
