Our Story

Picture of Our Story

It all started 4 years ago when a boy in short running shorts came into the room, plopped down, and started munching on a giant carrot. From there started their beautiful friendship which grew into so much more. Fast forward a year and they start dating. A few more years and this boy is taking this girl on a date. "We're going to watch a local musician and then go to dinner" he says. They walk from their car to a building and he turns to the girl and says "by the way, I'm the local musician and I'll be playing you a private show". They walk into a beautiful theatre where there's a piano on the stage. He helps her up and sits down at the piano and begins to play. She recognizes the tune immediately; it was the first song they had ever danced to as a couple. He begins to sing their song "Faithfully" by Journey. When the song is over she hears clapping from the audience. She turns but doesn't see anyone. Squinting through the lights she sees a stuffed Yoda the boy kept around his apartment when they first started spending time together with a present beside him. "I think Yoda has a present for you" he says and hops down to grab it. Bringing the present and Yoda with him, she sees Yoda is wearing the insanely short shorts the boy was wearing when she met him with a giant carrot stuck in his hand. She opens the present and sees it is a book of pictures with the title "Joel and Emily: A Love Story". He takes the book and tells her "I think this is a book I should read down on one knee" as he begins to kneel. He reads the love story of this boy and girl, filled with memories and what he loves about her. He gets to the last page and reads the last line "There was one more photo he needed to keep the story going, one more memory they needed to make before their stories would become one. And so, he asked her..." He set down the book and grabbed her hand. "Emily Ann" he said "will you marry me?" To which she joyfully replied "Yes!" and he slipped her great-grandmother's engagement ring onto her finger. This is the photo. This is the memory. And we are so happy to get to share the rest of our story together with our loved ones!
