Q + A

Why Carrollton, OH?

Emily has spent time in Carrollton on and off since 2021. Summer 2023 to end of 2024, she lived in Carrollton full time, painting and adorning the inside of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. It was an amazing opportunity as an artist, but also as a Catholic to be able to beautify a House of the Lord for the Lord. We thought it would be special to celebrate our nuptial Mass in this church. Or as Emily puts it, "I'm not painting a church and then not getting married in it!"

What Should I expect During the Ceremony?

We will have a full Catholic Mass with wedding ceremony. The Mass should last around one hour and fifteen minutes.

Attire: We want you to be comfortable, but we also believe in the sacredness of the holy Mass. We kindly ask guests to wear modest attire.

Ceremony: The Mass includes multiple readings, the vows, right after the Gospel reading and homily, and then the Liturgy of the Eucharist. There will be programs to guide you through the Mass as well.

Communion: Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship. Therefore, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. (From the USCCB on Guidelines on the Reception of Communion)

Our Protestant brothers and sisters may remain in their seats and join us in prayer or come forward with arms crossed across your chest for a blessing.

Is the reception at the same place as the ceremony?

No, our reception will take place at the Our Lady of Mercy church hall. The hall is located at the old church property 618 Roswell RD NW, Carrollton, OH 44615
