We met:
On a warm New Year’s Eve night at Montreux Bar and Grill, Emily was out celebrating the end of 2018 with her best friend, Laura, and Laura’s husband, John. They were chatting and dancing when Emily’s phone buzzed with a text from Tyler. Since she had already turned him down a few times before, Emily decided she would invite Tyler to join them. Tyler arrived and quickly joined in on the fun. Tyler and John became fast friends as Emily and Laura spent some time on the dance floor. Then, they all moved to the back patio for some New Year’s Eve games. While Emily and John went up to the bar, Tyler turned to Laura and said, “She is so pretty. How is she still single?” Of course, Laura loved to hear someone talk about her best friend this way and agreed that it was crazy Emily was still single. For the rest of the night, every time Tyler looked at Emily he smiled. Finally, midnight came and it was time to ring in the New Year. Tyler was nervous, he wasn’t sure if he should make the first move, but Emily turned to him and leaned in for their first kiss. Tyler admitted he wasn’t expecting that at all and asked why she decided to kiss him. Emily simply said, “Because it’s New Years!”
We dated:
Emily and Tyler went on their first official date just a few days later on January 4th. They planned to go to Olive Garden, but Tyler forgot to make a reservation. The two-hour wait time meant they were going to need to find a new place to eat and they ended up at Wild wings. After dinner, they were supposed to go see Aquaman, but they had quite a while before the movie was going to start. So, in true Tyler fashion, he invited Emily to his apartment where they watched the Duke game until it was time for the movie. They must have enjoyed themselves on their date because they continued to go on a date every week. Then on February 2nd, Tyler finally asked Emily to be his girlfriend.
They enjoyed spending a lot of time together, and that meant Tyler got to know Bowen (Emily’s golden retriever). Before long, Tyler got his own golden retriever, Miles, who quickly became Bowen’s best friend. They were spending most of their time together; watching Duke games, having cookouts with friends, taking the dogs to the dog park. So, when it came time for Tyler to renew his lease at his apartment, Emily and Tyler decided he should just move in!
We got engaged:
After moving in together and sharing more of their lives with one another, Tyler decided he wanted to make a lasting commitment to Emily. He knew exactly who to call to go ring shopping with him: Laura! Laura was well prepared with plenty of Pinterest pictures and saved pictures from when she and Emily would plan their weddings together. Tyler and Laura went to Polly’s Fine Jewelry together while Emily was resting up for work that night. They looked at many beautiful rings, but when it came down to making his decision Tyler told Laura, “Emily is just such a sparkly person, and I want her ring to be just as sparkly.” Laura was frantically sending pictures to Lindsey (also Emily’s best friend) and she fell in love with the same rings. With that, Tyler decided on a very sparkly, solitary diamond, perfect for Emily. The ring came in just in time for their family trip to Mackinac Island. On August 7th, 2020 during their trip, as both families were on a bike ride together, Tyler decided to stop and ask to take a picture. Little did Emily know he was building up the courage to pop the question! Tyler got down on one knee, pulled out the gorgeous ring, and asked Emily to marry him. Of course, Emily was thrilled and excitedly said yes! It was a picture perfect moment with their families there with them.
