We both went to OSU for undergrad and grad school and have stayed in Columbus because there is always so much to do. We hope you have as much fun visiting as we do living here. If you don't find something to do, that's on you!
Located in Grandview (where we live, 10 minutes from downtown). Emily's favs are the atchara (green papaya salad), pyanggang (lemony chicken), fried bok choy, and literally any of their cocktails. Trust us, anything you get there does not disappoint.
You could spend hours here with their indoor and outdoor garden displays. We took our parents here for Mother's Day and it was so much fun. Be prepared for a lot of walking and you do have to buy tickets, but you will absolutely enjoy it.
The Short North is located between Downtown and OSUs Campus and is popular for its bars, food, and night life. The list would simply be too long to go through all of them but here are a few:
- The Alibi: craft cocktail place with fun, unique cocktails
- The Eagle: family-style fried chicken and amazing southern sides
- Arch City: one of our favorite places for good apps, food, and beer selection
- Other favorite bars of ours: Local Bar, Oddfellows, Fours, Bristol Republic
Going down High St., through the Short North, will lead you to OSU's campus. Park nearby and walk around Mirror lake, Thompson Library, the 'Shoe (where we beat all our opponents in football), Ohio Union, and the Oval! Campus is quiet when most students are home during the summer, so it is a perfect time to explore.
