We met at The Gin Mill in Denver, CO by a completely random event. Emily's flight to Idaho was canceled and she was "stuck" in Denver (there are worse places to be stuck.) Micheal was in Denver to perform at halftime for the Denver Broncos game the next day. Thanks to Kendal Carr & Jimmy Forgraves we were in the right place at the right time.
Our first Christmas we flew to Texas to be with Micheal's family and still made it back to PA to spend Christmas Day with Emily's family. We did Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Philly.
We did our first Valentine's Day at Black Wall Hitch. We had an early reservation to watch the sunset on the water afterward. It was so cold, though, that we came home and had a movie night together. Micheal got Emily and himself a tattoo. She got her "Be here now" and he got the infamous Willie Nelson that trip.
As soon as COVID hit and Emily's school shut down, she packed her stuff to be in D.C. during lockdown. We got into photography, did lots of puzzles, planned hiking trips, went to the water in Alexandria, and all the other things people did during COVID.
Emily planned 30 days of mostly outdoor activities on our first road trip. Our first stop was Shenandoah NP (Our first park together - pictured.) We traveled to Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Arkansas, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Chicago. Our favorite spot on the road trip was Custer State Park, SD. (5,912 miles of driving - 16 states - 4 NPs)
On our first anniversary, we went hiking at King & Queens Seat and then had dinner ordered since it was still during the shutdown.
In March of 2021, we moved into our first apartment in Royersford, PA where we still reside.
If you know us, you probably know all about this road trip. But to sum it up, we drove to Texas to spend time with family and drop off Bo. After we drove through West Texas to become the tallest people in Texas at Guadalupe NP (Pictured). After traveling through New Mexico, Arizona, and California to do other National Parks we well... ended up stuck in LA for a few weeks.
Micheal asked Emily to marry him on December 28th at a Jersey City Park overlooking the NYC skyline after a long day in the city with his Mom and Sister. It was long awaited as Emily ruined the original plan that summer.
To wrap up our story we want to explain the significance of the number 28 in our lives.
