They met at the magical Uncle Billy’s Brew and Que. A could’ve-been-better barbecue joint and brewery on Barton Springs where Em worked as a server and Toby as an expo/runner. One day, Toby asked Em to run a tray of food for her table and she turned around and sassed him. Toby fell in love with her in that moment. Then, he showed her a trick that involved making his thumb disappear and she also knew she had found the one.
They started hanging out constantly. Toby always being down to dive into whatever new project or agenda Emily wanted. Did she try a new recipe? He was there. Did she want to try her hand at cutting glass? He was there in five. They fell in love constantly laughing, listening to records, admiring quirks and spontaneity, and just generally being pretty weird. And not to mention, they both enjoyed watching football and both liked the Chargers?! What?! No one likes the Chargers! Or that’s what his mom said when he told her about Emily anyway.
• Ten years later and all of the reasons we fell in love still hold true, now we are just excited to do them as husband and wife! •
