Our Wedding

It All Started with an Interview 

Emma and Drew met in spring 2017, in the upper classroom of Dixon Recreation Center. This was when Emma went in for her group interview for an on campus job with The Department of Recreational sports, at OSU. Drew was chair of the hiring committee, and Emma was one of five applicants being interviewed. Needless to say, Emma rocked that interview and landed the job. Fast forward to September of 2017, and they were officially coworkers. After months of Emma making excuses to talk to Drew at work, and Drew sweetly playing along, Emma finally asked Drew out on a date. Naturally, Drew had NO idea it was a date at all. They went to coffee at Tried &amp; True in Southtown, swapped quotes from The Grinch, and parted ways. Because Emma knew that Drew was oblivious to their first date being, in fact, a date; she asked again. Drew and Emma went to breakfast at Sam's Station in Corvallis, and that's when Drew finally caught on. After many more dates, a month long trip to Europe (for Drew), a graduation, and a big move, the two finally made it official. It happened when they were out to dinner, and Drew casually asked, "when's our anniversary?". Because he hadn't asked Emma to be his girlfriend at that point, Emma replied "I guess it could be today". And so, their anniversary became August 5th, 2018. And it wasn't until November 7th, 2020 that Drew, in the most grand and sweetest of ways, asked Emma to be his wife. It's important to note, that both parties were completely aware that this was a proposal.

A fun, modern hotel central to downtown Portland. A short drive from the venue, and a friendly staff! (Psssst, this is also where Drew proposed to Emma)

The Society Hotel - Portland

Easily the most well-known and one of the fanciest hotels in the area. If you're looking to splurge a little and treat yourself to a fun weekend in the city, this is a great spot! Just a 10 minute drive to the wedding venue.

The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Portland

If you're coming with a crew, we recommend booking a fun Airbnb! This is cost effective, and generally allows you more space! It can also allow you more freedom to choose where you want to stay in the Portland area.

Transportation 

A 15 minute drive to downtown Portland, with tons of nearby hotels! If you're flying into Portland to join us for our special day, it's a short Uber ride away from just about anything close to the wedding venue.

If you're traveling to us by train, Union Train Station is just a few short minutes by car to the wedding venue! This is a more scenic, cost effective option to flying.

A trendy spot in the heart of downtown, serving some incredible Vietnamese food, and some awesome tunes while you eat. We recommend the shrimp vermicelli bowl &amp; the pho.

Luc Lac Vietnamese Kitchen

With two locations in Portland, this is a must stop for a great sandwich and some Lardo fries. The Korean Pork Shoulder and the Bronx Bomber are fan favorites.

Probably our favorite pizza place in Portland, dishing up some awesome wood fired pizza and excellent cocktails as well.

Breweries

Hazy IPAs and some wild culinary inspired stouts and sours that will impress just about anyone, and their food menu is also excellent. Their NE Alberta spot is our favorite, but they also have locations in NW Portland and Beaverton.

Great Notion Brewing - Alberta

Great beer across the board, we especially enjoy their German pilsner (when on tap) and the Aperture (a delicious hazy pale ale). Their flagship NE location is a bit small, so we prefer to go to the Beaverton location - which also includes a bigger menu with some awesome deep dish pizza options.

Ex Novo Brewing Co.

Specializing in barrel-aged beers, this is a must try for sour &amp; stout lovers.

Cascade Brewing Barrel House

The best big pretzel. Ever. Huge selection of beers, including the infamous Breakside &amp; Wanderlust IPAs - two beers that are very close to Drew's heart.

Breakside Brewery - NW Slabtown

The place to be for German beer lovers. They also have a great food menu as well as some nice outdoor seating complete with food trucks.

Cocktails

A swanky little spot in the heart of the Pearl District, Botanist boasts some excellent cocktails and also features a huge rooftop space, which includes live music on the weekends.

Home to some of the best - not to mention creative &amp; innovative - cocktails in Portland, Clyde Common is an excellent spot for anyone who wants to enjoy a drink in a more upscale space.

While the space and the menu may be small, the house cocktails more than make up for it at Pepe le Moko.
