Lerici (Ligurian: Lerxi, locally Lerze[3]) is a town and comune in the province of La Spezia in Liguria (northern Italy), part of the Italian Riviera. It is situated on the coast of the Gulf of La Spezia, 8 kilometres (5 mi) southeast of La Spezia. It is known as the place where the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned. You can still visit the house where Percy and Mary Shelley lived, both Lerici and San Terenzo have a lot of information about Shelley and Byron who made the area there home. The Lerici is connected by ferry to the Cinque Terre and Portovenere.
