We like to think that our paths were always meant to cross, connected by invisible strings that twisted and tangled but never broke.
When we first met as freshmen in high school, there was an instant connection between us. We knew right away we would be good friends. As the months passed, we discovered that our families had known each other for years, adding another layer to our bond.
For a while we were always together, going to the same school and the same church, but after graduation, we went our separate ways. We saw each other again on Halloween 2018, during our freshman year of college, and then we lost contact.
Then, after years of not talking, one of us felt a little more bold than usual (it was Emma) and decided to reach out to catch up. We decided to meet up again on Halloween of 2022 and immediately felt that connection. Every second we spent talking together felt like all the strings were finally untangling and pulling us right to where we should be.
