Saturday is a great day to explore Lisbon or take a day trip to Sintra (mountain village known for its colorful palace), Cascais (beach town- where Victor was born!), Óbidos (medieval castles), or Nazaré (a beach town known for huge surfing waves).

Events

Lisbon has only one main airport, Humberto Delgado. This will be the airport guests should fly in to (note: it is about a 15 minute drive from the venue)!

Transportation within Lisbon

Uber

Lisbon has lots of options for traveling within the city. For our American guests, we recommend Uber as an easy option for getting around (they are also very cheap in Lisbon!).

Metro

Lisbon’s metro is a fast and easy way to travel around the city. It has four color-coded lines (blue, yellow, green, and red) that connect most central neighborhoods, as well as the airport. To ride, you’ll need a rechargeable&nbsp;Viva Viagem card&nbsp;(available at machines in every station). Simply load it with single trips or a day pass, tap in at the gate, and you’re set to go. Stations are well signed in English and Portuguese.

Elétricos (Trams)

Lisbon’s iconic yellow trams are a charming way to explore the city, especially in older neighborhoods where streets are too narrow for cars. The most famous is&nbsp;Tram 28, which winds through many of Lisbon’s historic districts. You’ll use the same&nbsp;Viva Viagem card&nbsp;as on the metro—just tap when you board.

Buses

Lisbon’s buses cover the whole city. They’re reliable, clean, and run from early morning until late at night (with a few night lines after the metro closes). You can use the same&nbsp;Viva Viagem card—just tap when you board. Buses are a good option if your route isn’t close to a metro station.

Suburban Trains

Lisbon’s suburban trains are the easiest way to reach spots outside the city, like&nbsp;Cascais&nbsp;(beachside) and&nbsp;Sintra&nbsp;(palaces and castles). Importantly, it can also take you to&nbsp;Belém, a neighborhood in the western part of Lisbon, where the wedding will take place. They run regularly however you will need to buy a different ticket at the station.

Lisbon Neighborhoods

Lisbon has many great neighborhoods to choose from, each with its own charm. For easy access to sights, restaurants, and nightlife, we recommend staying in or near the city center:- Baixa &amp; Chiado – Central, walkable, and great for shopping, cafés, and historic squares.- Alfama – The oldest part of Lisbon, full of winding streets, viewpoints, and fado music.- Príncipe Real &amp; Bairro Alto – Trendy, lively, and close to both restaurants and nightlife.- Avenida da Liberdade – More upscale, with elegant hotels and boutiques, still close to the action.

AIRBNB

Victor and I personally recommend using Airbnb to find a place to stay. This is what we always do when in Lisbon, as the hotels can be much pricier! There are tons of Airbnbs throughout Lisbon to choose from.

Things to Do

Welcome Party: Dressy Casual

Ladies are encouraged to wear sundresses or skirts, and gentlemen to wear khaki shorts/pants and a nicer shirt.

Wedding Day: Semiformal

Some factors to consider are that Lisbon is hot in June and that the wedding will be in a garden (aka the paths are dirt/gravel). Men are welcome to wear a suit and tie but given the weather, should also feel comfortable to forgo the tie and/or jacket. For women, a midi or maxi cocktail dress is a great option.
