On December 18, 2024 Garrett planned a date for him and Emma to go to the Christmas market near Moerlien Lager House and eat dinner after. Completely clueless about what was to come, Emma got ready for what she thought was just a festive evening.

When they arrived at the market, it was decorated with twinkling lights, a tall Christmas tree, cozy fires, and igloos. While waiting for their “table” to be ready (clever decoy—there was no table), they looked around the market and sat by the fire.

Finally, Garrett got a “text” that their table was ready, so they walked toward Moerlein Lager House. As they walk in Garrett tells Emma he needs to use the restroom. A few minutes later, he returns saying it is out of order and that he was going to head back outside to the market to go. Soon after, he texted Emma to come try a new beer they had outside, but Emma being Emma, didn't care to drink and wanted to stay inside. Garrett persuaded Emma so they went back outside and on their way around, Garrett opens the door to their own private igloo.

Garrett told Emma they’d actually be having dinner inside the igloo, and that the food would be brought to them. Emma was a little suspicious, but she brushed it off. Garrett kept asking her to take her jacket off, something Emma never does in the winter, and thats when her heart dropped and she instantly knew what was about to happen.

As Emma nervously slipped off her coat, Garrett handed her phone to the waitress to capture the moment, got down on one knee, and asked Emma to marry him.
